AT&T credit check for a contract

hi i have a problem i currently have a iphone with a gophone plan and i wanna get the iphone 3g now im hearing that u have to do a contract in the store and that they have to run a credit check the problem is i dont have a social security number cause im not a resident from united states but i pay my taxes and all that, is the only way for them to run a credit check is with a social security number or for example i can give them my ITIM number that i pay my taxes or something else?

the best thing to do is call AT&T and find out how to go about opening up a contract. I'm sure they have some policy in place.

From what I understand they will offer it, but you will pay a lot more for the phone. The lower prices are for those that get the contract with AT&T.
