I have a 1.1.2 UK iphone - can i use ZiPhone/iLiberty?

I'd rather use ZiPhone or IlIberty as it looks so much easier but not 100% sure if i can use them with a UK iphone.

Also, i was going to upgrade my 1.1.2 to 1.1.4 as advised by someone and then just jailybreak and unlock from there (using a guide). Is this what i should do?
