Received my 24" 2.8Ghz 8800GS - Impressions & Pics !!

Having upgraded from a 20" let me first tell you how pleased I am. Im Pleased...

I upgraded primarily on the merit of needing the 8800 GS, so I took advantage of the Education discount and free nano (I have a son in 3rd Grade that counts right *wink*)

It came a day early from Fed Ex which was a nice bonus. I read all the threads about the scren issues and was a little concerned that I would have backlight issues (Im not a major whine ass about a dead pixel or two).

I fired her up after setting it up and used my Time Machine backup. this is the first time I have used the feature and it was freaking painless... SO much better than my PC experiences with backups(I was a big Ghost proponent).

I took the advice of others and calibrated my screen using super Cal, it now looks dazzling. Absolutely ZERO screen issues. No dead /stuck pixels, and the backlight uniformity is better than any display I have ever owen. even better than my Dell 2405fpw that I currently use on my Gaming rig. Bottom line is the 24" display apple uses on these is simply stunning in quality. I love glossy and this tickles my twine immensely.

All in all this is a wonderful machine that feels fast, smooth and efficient. Along side it sits the new (RED) Nano that my wife will enjoy. Cant say enough about it...

anyone considering a 24" just stop reading and go freaking order one. You will NOT be dissappointed in any way.

3 weeks? Holy crap, I ordered mine Thursday night and it was at my door This morning (Mon) at 8:30am from Fed Ex. It was a BTO also from Shanghai

how do u like ur g-tech what size is it?

Dont u think it will fill up with all the crap on your HDD Faster than ur internal disk assuming it is 500gb for both

I Love the Gtech. It is the Quad 320GB, and I use the FW800 port which is fantastic...super quick and looks like a million bucks. The iMac has a 500GB. I use it only for Time Machine and when it fills up I will wipe it and start over. Not worried at all.

Is the keyboard position uncomfortable being so high?

Also, what do you think of the mighty mouse? Doesn't it have issues on the glass tabletop?

It does not track on the glass at all... Im getting a mouse pad tomorrow..

The comment seems to come from someone in New Zealand. Geography and availability in that region could be a factor. :confused:

I also have the alum Imac from work a couple months ago. (before the current upgrade). And I don't see any of the screen problems that some are saying. Maybe I’m not that particular. And the glossy screen doesn’t bother me at all. You get used to it.

Waiting for the next upgrade to get one for home (to replac emy white imac, which is so slow compared to the current lineup).
