Spotlight always indexes after restart

Hi guys.
I have been having a little problem with Spotlight lately and whenever I start up my mac or restart, the spotlight always indexes the volumes every single time and takes more than 5 minutes to do so. Why does it do this?

Now my MBP takes a little more to start up too and this never used to happen until a week ago. Is this behavior normal?
