I had to wait about a 2-4 weeks for my MBP to show up (also my first Mac). When you do get it in the end, it is well worth it...at least it was for me! I love this thing. :D I think you'll find the same about your decked out iMac!

The worst part for me was realizing I had to send my new iMac back for replacement because the screen was wacked with a jillian stuck pixels.

There goes my weekend plan reserved to discover Macs :(.

It took Apple from Friday to the Tuesday after next to deliver it. 11 days. This is in the UK

congrats on yr 3.06! I have just bought the 24" 2.8 Ghz and have ordered 2 GB of additional RAM. I was curious about removing the memory modules and tried to remove them (there are two) with the tabs following the instructions in the iMac booklet and could unseat each module but could not remove either. I stopped after realizing how much force I was applying to the tabs. Anyone had experience with these things??:o

No, it had "sent" for a long time before the tracking number and courier appeared. Once that information appeared it went very quickly. I think it arrived in the end a couple of days ahead of the first "expected date" that appeared.

Thats why I bought the 4GB's of Apple I just couldn't be asked with the troubles in all fairness.
I played around with the 24" in an apple store near me with my mate. We were just draw dropped the entire time with OS X.

First of all, it sounds like you have some very VERY nice friends. Secondly, the wait was killer for mine. And the worst part was that the tracking was way off and it came like 4 days later than expected. Boooo Fedex.
Congrats though!

Well my friend is in fact my Godfather. I see him more as a great friend though. I also got it because Im going back into education after messing up my last 2 years.
Urgh it still says Ready to be sent.. and still says estimated dispatch 25 June :(.
Only thing I know is that I cannot cancel the order now.

Just think about how sweet it will be when you slide it out of that big box, set it on your desk and take in that beautiful aluminum sculpture. When you can't stand it anymore you carefully plug in the power cable, keyboard, add the batteries to the mouse and hit the power button! How sweet that first start up bong sounds followed by the excellent welcome to OS X video show!
Patience, it's worth it! Assuming there are no dead or stuck pixels and the backlighting is uniform....:D

Ok well its friday 27th. Been 1 week since I ordered it and it has said "Ready to be dispatched" for 3 days now. Nothing still the same. This is actually ticking me off. It would be fine if it said "In the mail" or something but no .. it says ready to be dispatched. What comes to mind is a box sitting in a warehouse just sitting there with no purpose :(.
Urgh.

lol You'll get it soon enough. Keep thinking, "It's free" and you should stop worrying :).

Well after paying €2,077 ( $3235 ) Id expect the sending to go a little more smooth. It be fine if it just said something else to Ready to be dispatched. Thats whats putting me on edge.
I think the moment I get it Im taking a sledge hammer to my PC. Vista is slowly getting me depressed whilest waiting for my first mac \o/ :p

Well I guess Im just a little disappointed. I've spent the last 2 months reading absolutely everything I can about Apple and their products. Seeing how everything is AMAZING. I expected the buying part to be the same as the rest of the package, amazing. :(
It just a crappy way of being introduced to Apple. Maybe they need to rethink how they take their orders or at least their systems.
I know im going to adore my iMac but this has just got me down.

Midway through the summer, you'll be using your new Mac & will barely be able to remember that long wait you had... A watched pot never boils.... be patient, it'll get here.
Amazing, that in this day & age... fast is not fast enough, and yesterday is too late. If it takes 1 more day, it won't be the end of the world... life will go on....right? (just my 2 cents);)

Well I just find it strange that you can buy say camera parts from Hong Kong and have it arrive to you in like 3 days but Apple can't send me my iMac in 10?

Hey, I totally agree... I was just pointing out that NOT EVERYTHING happens in the blink of an eye. Camera makers in Hong Kong might drink more Starbucks coffee than the folks at Apple... there are a handful of reasons why things are the way they are. :)

I mean im ok with waiting when there is a reason for it. The problem I have here is their system has been telling me its "ready to be dispatched" since Tuesday. It was estimated to be dispatched my Wednesday.
It's their system which is making me nervous for telling me its ready but just sitting in a warehouse somewhere :(. IF it said something like Queing for dispatch then maybe but ready for dispatch?

It'll get there eventually and then you can have fun playing.

You might want to call your local mail depots (FedEx, UPS etc) and ask if they have a package for you. Sometime mail falls through the cracks and has already shipped.
I have had this before, now that I think of it. I ordered two iPod 30gb back in the day and they were saying ready to be shipped when the UPS guy came to the door.
I ordered a 2.8 24" with the video and hard drive upgrades and its already in MEMPHIS, TN 5 days later.

Well I recieved an email from Apple so I was in joy \o/ \o/ \o/
So they dispatched it today. Estimated Arival date 8th of JULY :(
My Courier is TNT I got a tracking code and everything but I cannot find out where its coming from. Anyway the courier tracking code details me estimated 3rd of July but Apple says 8th. I think thats Apple playing it safe right?

Would save yourself a lot of hand wringing if you would have called the Apple Store at 1-800-676-2775 to check the status.

Don't any of you guys have a brick and mortar Apple Store near you? I have 2 within 30-40 miles of me. Anyway I am patiently awaiting my Mac day. Should be getting mine by the end of the summer, going to get a 24" 3.06GHz model, and I'm getting the 1TB drive and just 2GB of RAM. I know it's easy to upgrade the RAM yourself, but I hear it's nearly impossible to upgrade the HD.
Not going to have much room for the Mac, but I'll make it fit somehow. Already have a 3GHZ Quad-core Pc running Vista x64 on a 24" Samsung. I hope I don't pop a breaker in the computer room. :-/

I'm in the same hell now, but I don't know exactly when I'll get my package (3.06 standard). US -> Poland, it should be about 2-4 weeks. Aaaaa! Can't wait so long.
