I'm leaving on a vacation Saturday, I'm getting home from my current one tomorrow, and my PowerBook has a failing stick of RAM. I won't have time to order any from a website, so (because it's hard to run Leopard on 256 Mb of RAM) can I run out to Best Buy per se and buy a stick of our most common RAM variety for laptops and expect it to clock down to fit the PowerBook, or will it just be incompatible? (I know it has 200 pins and might fit, but will it work)

No - it's totally different RAM.

The 12" PowerBook takes PC2700 SO-DIMM RAM.

I was fearing this... I guess it's just too different (I know the higher end PBs had DDR2, so I thought perhaps the DDR2 chip might be compatible with the 12" even if it wasn't being used as DDR2, ah well). Hmm... now where am I going to get a stick of RAM for a PowerBook in just a day...
