PHOTOS - iPhone 3G VS Origional, SIZE, DIMENTIONS, COMPARISON.

The iPhone User Group in Hong Kong claims to have photos of the iPhone 3G injection mold and has posted several comparison photos to the first-generation iPhone.

This shows a good comparison of the size difference.

What do you guys think? Will it fit in our old iPhone cases? 😉
 
it is slightly bigger in the very middle. I think that's irrelevant though seeing as the tapered sides make it feel smaller
 
It's thicker at the very peak of the bulge, but thinner on average because of the sloping edges. My guess for one reason is that a curved plastic back is stronger than a flat one, less likely to crack when dinged. Or maybe it's to allow more room for the 3G antenna... will have to wait for the teardowns to see where that's located.
 
I think its footprint is larger. So it might not fit into the silicone cases...but the leather holsters, prolly.

this is the major thing i dont like about the new design.
not only did the flat surface make the phone really secure on any surface you put it on, it was also silent as it wont roll from side to side, it wont scratch or scuff due to it not moving...

it was clearly a form follows function exercise, but i really dont like this new shape.

still getting one though...but i wish i could have a mixture of both...

even the silver looks more 'pro' to me than the glossy black or white...

i always love the "pro" comment. It's a phone. PROfessional what? Any dork can use a phone. 😀

I guess any dork can buy and use a MacBook Pro as well.

These are all consumer products, that various Pro's can use for their various professions. Good marketing by Apple to give a pseudo status to certain of their products. I just happen to like all of their products, especially the ones with the best specs, which just so happens to be the ones that they market as PRO products.
