Can i buy the Mac Version of a game, then play people online who are running windows? Or other than price, is there a reason why running in Windows is better? (XP) Mainly thinking FPS.
Thanks

Depends on the game. Some, like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Halo and such support cross-OS gameplay. Others, such as Command and Conquer Generals, do not.
Reasons for running it in Windows? Faster access to patches, generally better performance because the game is originally written for Windows, and more support from the companies that make the games.

okay, i may just stick Xp on my MBP and game that way, i have the C&C Decades pack, which i would like to use anyway, so seems like Xp is the way to go.

That's a good summary of the benefits of running XP. I should note that I have NEVER run into a game that didn't play cross-platform (if both versions were in synch as far as patches). I know it happens sometimes that a game is Mac-only for multiplayer, but it's not the norm.
I don't game in XP because dealing with Windows, and having to reboot is a huge hassle and NOT fun. Being able to click into a game instantly from OS X is worth those other things, for me.
