So, my girlfriend is getting an new iMac since we sold the G5. I make a disk image of it with Carbon Copy Cloner. I went to copy that to another drive to have a second backup. It failed for some reason.
Then, all of my data on that partition of the external disappeared. I am currently running Data Rescue II on it. But this certainly smells of that file copy bug in 10.5.0, which was supposed to be fixed in 10.5.1.
Setup:
Mac Pro
320GB Mini stack connected via FW (the partition in question was FAT32)
Has anyone else experienced this after 10.5.1? I am really freaking out here. Most of my data is backed up, but, I was just about to move it all to my newly built server and a Drobo. Chances are DRII will get the data, but it is still annoying.
I am wondering if the FAT table just got blown out somehow. I am going to run some other tools on the drive when I get the data off to a secure location. Anyhow, just a heads up. I will try to duplicate this as well.
