Hi,

Please help. This the first issue i've had in years.

I was using Onyx to repair permissions, clean some caches, verify the start up and S.M.A.R.T status

all checked out fine.

Did a restart, and it got stuck.

So, I held down the power button and shut it off.

Restarted, and now it's stuck on the white apple logo screen. It stays like that and then the fans freak out.

I did the PRAM thing

and I try to hold down shift for safe mode
nothin

try to hold down :apple: + S for single user mode
nothin

Can't get the disc tray to open, so I can't reboot with the install disc.

I also unplugged all my peripherals

sigh

wtf

still stuck on the white apple logo screen. This is a PowerMac G5 dual 1.8.

running the latest OS

the PRAM command worked, so it is recognizing key commands. So not sure why I can't get single user mode to work.

and this machine has been fine recently. this is out of the blue.

please help

thanks
