Simple yet frustrating problems with opening folders.

I'm having some annoying problems when opening folders, Whenever I open a folder in finder and enter a sub folder it'll create another window for that sub folder. For instance,

I want to open my music folder so I open up finder.
I go to music and open that one up, it creates another folder
I click Itunes, another is open
I click Itunes music, you guessed it, another is open.

So now I have a total of 5 folders open just to see my music, anyone think they can help? it was never like this and I'd just like to know how to change it.

Uncheck "Always open folders in a new window"

Its not checked but it continues.
