Why does expose stop working when mbp plugged into external monitor?

I plug my MBP 2.33 into my Panasonic HDTV sometimes, and usually when I do it will be working fine for a time, then all of a sudden Expose will stop working. Cant show all windows, and spaces stops working. Also the mouse seems to mess up...If I hover over a link it wont change, nor will it change when I hover over an item on the dock...seems very strange, and ideas/solutions?

Have you tried downloading 10.5.4 and testing further?
