Is it hard to install MacBook memory?

they come with 2x1GB. If you want to up it to 4GB, yes, you do need to replace both sticks.

What are you doing with your machine? You might not need to up it to 4GB.

Yes - there will almost certainly be two 1gigs - but check in system profiler - Apple menu>about this Mac>more info>memory and it will show what is in each RAM slot.

These are instructions for the Core Duo model and don't mention 2GB chips because you cannot fit them in that model - but everything else is the same for your model.

It's very easy, maybe 5 minutes at most, just make sure the sticks click in place.

finding the proper screwdriver and removing those tiny screws w/o stripping them were the hardest parts for me as well.

Also, be sure to touch a metal part of the Macbook before handling the ram. I usually touch the metal inside the battery compartment.

Before removing the old ram, note how far in the ram is sitting. That way after installing the new ram, you have some idea how it should look when finished.

A good place to check for electronic/precision screwdrivers is Radio Shack or Sears, I'm sure maybe Lowes or HomeDepot has them. I have purchased two different electronics screwdriver sets from both of the first two places. The sets come with flat, Phillips, and Torx head screwdrivers and they are labeled with the sizes of them.

It's a piece of cake, dude. Just make sure you have those screwdrivers that you need to open it with. I had to take a trip to the Home Depot and buy one. =\
