I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not, mods please move it to the appropriate place.
Ok, so I took my iMac into the Genius Bar because it sounds like the HDD is about to die. When the Genius gave me the release form to sign the iMac was registered to some guy in Toledo, OH; I live in Ann Arbor Michigan, I don't even know anyone in OH.
No one has owned the iMac before me, I remember when I bought the iMac the guy who rung me up at the Apple Store Registered it to my name. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea as to why My iMac was registered to some guy I've never even talked to?
Thanks,
Don

Maybe the Apple employee made a mistake when copying or entering the serial number. Did you check the paperwork vs. the iMac?

Ha.
You didn't question this when you saw it in the store?
My only idea is that he may have clicked something wrong on his part or typed something in wrong...
I have no clue honestly...
That's very strange..
And slightly scary.

No, the Genius did fix it and reregistered it under my name. After he double checked the serial # on the iMac. I even double checked and it was the right serial.
Also the guys name wasn't even similar to mine, My name is Donald, and his was Carlos something and his last name didn't even have any of the same letters as mine. It is really bothering me. I asked the genius why he thought it happened, and he said "I don't know, why does it really matter?". The guy was a total jerk about the humming/high pitched whining/vibrating so badly that my keyboard jumps around my desk issue.

That is very odd. When the computers are purchased they serial number is scanned into the computer. So it's not a matter of being entered wrong. All the information is synced with the name on your credit car if that's how you paid. If it was cash, then it is possible they put it under the wrong customer information, but very unlikely.
If you paid with your credit card I'd pull your credit reports to make sure you weren't the victim of identity theft at some point in your life. Probably not, but doesn't hurt to check.
Probably just a mess up in the system.
Genius' can be arrogant at times. That'll happen when your job title is "Genius" I guess.

I paid cash for it, but it just kind of bugged me, and it really ticked me off when the genius was like "so what".
