New hard drive, new OSX Install

I've got a PowerMac G4 (MDD/FW800) running 10.4.11, still with the original HD. I've just purchased a new 320GB Seagate which I want to make the main drive and keep the original 60GB as secondary.
Do I need to boot from the OSX DVD in order to install it on the new drive?, or can I simply run 'Install Mac OS X' from the DVD while under my current version of OSX?

I bet you need to start up from the install disk, but there's no harm in trying to install it from your current disk's OS X that's running. If it can't do it then the installer script will tell you you have to restart.
 
Why not just use Carbon Copy Cloner? Clone the original drive to the new one. Then delete all the stuff off the old one that you don't need.

Excellent point! I took the question too literally. It will be a lot easier to clone it than migrating.
