I decided to search for some new drivers today for the 8600GT for the MBPs. Here are the best working and newest ones I found.

NOTE: Make sure you download the modified INF file along with the driver and copy the modified INF file into the directory you extract the driver into BEFORE trying to install, otherwise it won't work.

Thanks! How do they compare to the standard Bootcamp's?

the last time I tried modified drivers, my screen would stop responding to the brightness setting. It would following my brightness settings when I changed the brightness, but after changing them, 5 seconds later, it would automatically go back to the highest brightness setting possible. Was really annoying when I tried to do something on battery.

Any strange issue with these that have been reported? I am curious because I don't want to dismiss these, but I am wary of problems like I have previously reported.

You had to disable something in powermizer (Nvidia control panel). That, or control the brightness with that.

Well, I tried them yesterday and [as any other custom driver so far] it messed up so that my external monitor cannot be selected as main display, and the resolution will not go above 1600x1200 although it should be 1920x1200. I have researched for a solution, found many similar complaints but no remedy. "Solved" it by going back to Bootcamp's drivers.
