Okay, I have the applecare and have a question that I searched first and could not find something close. Disclaimer: I AM NOT TRYING TO SCAM APPLE.

Lets say my gen1 iPhone has an issue covered under the warrenty ( I have Applecare) and they have to give me a new phone. Will they be giving 3g replacement (i doubt this) or refurb gen1 (likely) or will you have an option to upgrade to the 3G for nominal fee?

Thoughts, comments or did I miss this thread already.

personally I don't think they are going to give you the choice, I think you will get the 2.5G phone.

You'd get a gen1 iphone. Or more specifically, a refurbished, used, gen1 iPhone.
Same thing happens when iPods are taken in under warranty.
