That's not a new MBA, that's the same MBA for less money. Price drops were inevitable. What does a price drop have to do with MBA 2?

If it is the same SSD, but now already cheaper by almost half, that is wonderful news.

We may see 128GB ones sooner than expected. This will definitely make the MBA more alluring to those who need more HD space.

I hope Apple offers a matte screen option in the future. A MBA with 128GB SSD and matte screen, now that would be sweet. :)

the price of the ssd is now 599 so thats 400 less

Maybe it's because of reports of SSDs draining battery faster than disks.
Hmm, doubtful I suppose, since the news is only about a day old, and Apple wouldn't exactly care.

That's not a new MBA, that's the same MBA for less money. Price drops were inevitable. What does a price drop have to do with MBA 2?

Doesn't a $500, 50% from the original ssd, price drop have something to do with accomodating changes in prices and technology? Isn't this a change towards an mba 2 or isn't it? These are rhetorical questions, don't pretend to not understand how obvious what am saying is.

Prices of technology drop. New price drops does not equate to a new model. A new model has different components than the previous version. Thus, this does not mean it is a new MacBook Air. Simply a lower cost.

Will we see an updated Air? Perhaps. Boost the proc and add a bigger hard drive and that's really all that can be done to it.

It's posted on the front page that the price drop comes from the processor upgrade ($200 vs $300) and SSD ($599 vs $999).

As someone planning to buy one at the end of the month, I'd like to see the HD model drop a little in cost ;)
