Adelaide pilot stranded in Antarctica
By Christopher Salter
December 11, 2003
AN embarrassed Adelaide adventurer who was forced to land in the Antarctic after running out of fuel has been told the only way out for his home-made plane is for it to be packed in crates and shipped home.
Jon Johanson, 47, of West Lakes Shore, was forced to land at the McMurdo Base airfield when he miscalculated the fuel requirements for his trip on to Argentina after completing a world-first solo flight over the South Pole.

The Americans and the New Zealenders have refused fuel to the adventurer and say they will ship the plane back in peaces. Throw the poor guy a bone and let him fly home.
