From about 7 years ago, Majestic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majestic_(video_game)) was pretty invasive from a consciousness perspective, and persistent in a RL way (review) (http://archive.salon.com/tech/feature/2001/08/10/majestic/index.html). One of maybe two games (the other being Rails West!) in the last thirty years I can remember exactly where I was when messages and tasks came in.
I've seen/heard/read of similar concepts being bandied about that take advantage of the iPhone's pervasiveness in owners' lives, and personally, loved the level of involvement--and a bit of paranoia--that came with it.
I miss that one more than most games for the level of active involvement and depth of experience the developers had to put into it on a constant basis. Anyone else remember and/or miss it?
