View Full Version : How long to backup MBA to Time Capsule?

So, I seem to recall when doing a restore from a TC backup from OSX CD that it only takes say about 3 hours to restore from the TC over ethernet to the MBA.

Right now I've been doing a backup of the MBA over ethernet to Timecapsule from scratch and it's taking a very long time. >8+ hours.

How long should this generally take? I'm surprised it's taking this long.

How much data are you backing up? Timecapsule is not the fastest backup method available and usually takes its sweet time. Restores happen fast, but backups, specially initial backups take time and sometimes very long time. I had local Firewire backup from my MacPro go for around 8 hours trying to backup 18GB of data. i let it run and it completed without any hicups.
