I'm so jealous. LBP looks set to be my game of the year (well next to VP: Trouble in Paradise). I love platforming games, and I love games where I can create... combine the two, add one of the most breathtaking and creatively stunning looking games and it's just the essence of Nirvana....

I really hope it blows me away as much as I want it to.

Damnit! I wish you hadnt mentioned this game, i bought a ps3 mainly for motorstorm and bought a couple more games but never played it.
I already have a 360 and rarely play that or the ps3 but i sold the ps3 after i found out LBP was going to be nearly another year before it came out.
looks like that time is drawing nearer! :(

The physics are pretty cool. Like in the jetpacks when I had to pick up shells and fly them up to this platform. When I put enough on the platform it opened the door. And it looked cool when I ran into a bunch of things and they all fell on me :P. The controls where great, I loved using the right stick to grab things. I don't really remember the controls but here's what I do remember.

d-pad: Different directions made you character express different emotions on his face, like sad, happy, scared, and mad. Each emotion had 3 levels, just push the button 3 times.
Left stick: move
Right stick: grab
X: jump
Circle: close text boxes on the screen
Square: Open editor box
trangle: forgot :\
shoulder buttons: forgot :\

and then there were different controls for editing, but I didn't do that much, just placed some stickers and such.

LBP Ships 10/7/2008 in the US so long as there are no delays. The game still needs to be rated by the ESRB.

I am looking forward to this one given that I am a platformer nut.

No Single platform game will EVER win GOTY, and GTA IV has it this year, easily.

Last i heard it had been delayed a month, for a release in October (PS Day in London, sometime last month i think) whether this was just EU, i doubt it though because MM wanted worldwide release to be simealtaneous (SP?)

Sony is publishing it so probably not going to happen. But Microsoft will respond when it's released with SmallLargePlanet, which Kotaku will call the most original and innovative game they've see nin years.

Theres GTA4, MGS4, LBP, Spore, and augh... Gears 2 which will surely be overrated by fanboys. I dont think GTA will get it. MGS4, LBP, and Spore are probably going to be a very close race. I love GTA4 but I dont think it deserves it, they could have done more, MGS4 is more memorable.

Im hoping LBP wins, its the underdog that is doing some really innovative things. If not LBP then MGS4 for completing the best video games series with a bang.

It depends on the outfit you subscribe to for "GOTY", neither Halo 3 nor GTA IV deserved the "10" ratings it got from certain outfits.

Just so you don't look biased you forgot Mario Kart, Smash Bros Brawl and Left 4 Dead (not out yet but it's a Valve game, nuff said).

I'm betting on Starcraft long before Diablo 3 and I'm not really seeing either being GOTY for 2008 because I doubt they'll be out then...but I'd LOVE to be surprised. Maybe Starcraft, but I'm much more excited about Diablo and the unannounced third game.

Caught up in the atmosphere? As harsh as it may sound the only way reviewers could give a game like GTA IV a 10/10 is with Rockstar's big wad of bills in their pocket.

It's a great game, no doubt, but not good enough to have 10 across the board, especially on sites like IGN and GameSpot which hardly ever give out 10s.

I forgot about Fallout 3 and the Blizzard games, I thought they were for 2009. Its going to be hard for them just to make a list of nominees. I have concerns about Fallout 3 though, if they are still using action points for movement and attacking then I dont know how well it will be received, that is an incredibly dated combat system.
