iPhone 3G in Mexico

I will buy an iPhone 3G in the USA and will activate with AT&T, later on I will be traveling to Mexico and I would like to buy a SIM from TELCEL, the official mexican carrier that will also sell the iPhone 3G there.
Will it work to avoid roaming charges?
Anyone knows about the mexican rates for the iPhone 3G?

carlos slim is ********kn crazy am Mexican and I know that ppl who makes the minimum salary in hell culdnt ever afford an iPhone, plus plan amigo prepaid plan for telcel is not availble so, I'll pay roaming instead of making the rechest guy in the world have more money, I'll get mine in AT&T fair pricing...
