Weird, my dollar bills say "This note is legal tender for all debts public and private." on it.
That seems to mean that I can use it at the AT&T store! 🙄
I remember reading a rumor or something saying that you can only purchase the iPhone with a credit/debit card, you can't use cash.
Is this true? If so, does ATT sell gift cards? If they don't take cash, I was going to purchase a 400$ gift card.
that was only at apple stores, we have always accepted cash. i have not read anything stating otherwise...
That seems to sum it up. They can restrict it to whatever they want. They want a link to your bank account.US Department of the Treasury said:The pertinent portion of law that applies to your question is the Coinage Act of 1965, specifically Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled "Legal tender," which states: "United States coins and currency (including Federal reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal reserve banks and national banks) are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues."
This statute means that all United States money as identified above are a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether or not to accept cash unless there is a State law which says otherwise. For example, a bus line may prohibit payment of fares in pennies or dollar bills. In addition, movie theaters, convenience stores and gas stations may refuse to accept large denomination currency (usually notes above $20) as a matter of policy.
if they don't have gift cards at at & t, you could always go get a prepaid visa or something
So you work at AT&T, and will be accepting cash? Do you guys also have gift cards?
Most likely, seeing as they advise you to buy a gift card if you're trying to buy a phone as a gift.Would that work for signing up a new phone?
Where can you pick up one of those at? Would that work for signing up a new phone?
Why on earth do you not have a debit or credit card?
I very rarely carry cash and I resent having to use it for parking meters and suchlike. Everything goes on my Visa Debit.
Alright thanks, I plan on purchasing a 800$ giftcard just incase. I say this because I'll probly have to pay a deposit.
I asked my friend who works at ATT if they will take cash, or just credit/debit and he told me:
"credit/debit only, we have to follow apples rules"
