Has anybody else noticed that on the box, on the top bar on the iPhone, there is no carrier logo or name? It just shows the "5 bars" symbol and the "3G" symbol. Any thoughts on why?

My guess would be so that they didn't have to print up 20+ different boxes

1. it saves money on having to print different boxes for different countries for their different carriers.
2. i dont wanna sound like an ass but i would rather not have my boxes uglied with an att logo thx.

1. So that they don't have to print 75 different box covers.
2. It's Apple. They're not going to advertise someone else on their box.

They'd need 3 different boxes just for Australia - total waste of money.
This way they only need to make one box and just put the different power adapters into them - much cheaper.

The AT&T logo was on the back on the 1st gen iPhone box.

Well I know 75 is a lot more than about five. But I believe all of the 1st gen boxes had the logo on top.

Regarding the boxes, has anybody seen this posted on appleinsider:
Quote:
Based on reports flooding AppleInsider's tip lines, initial iPhone 3G supplies will be skewed largely towards the $199 8GB model, which comes only in black. That doesn't mean there won't be some 16 giggers floating around. And for the extra $100 required to trade up to the higher capacity model, you'll not only get your choice of white or black, but if you choose the white, you'll also get a white box too:
