I just went and picked up my tickets for the 12:01 showing of ATC. I am not going to wait on line hours ahead of time, it just seems like such a waste of time to me.

What is it with people who have been waiting for days, weeks and even months to be the first in the theater to see this movie. Sheesh. My friend went online, reserved the tickets, I went a couple of hours ago and picked them up, no hassle, no lines (yet), but we'll get there around 10ish and hopefully secure halfway decent seats. Wish me luck.

Any way, I'll be back later to this thread after the movie to give it a review. Also in another thread, it was mentioned that the trailer for The Matrix Reloaded will be shown tonight and it has a prototype/new Apple handheld device. Good rumor, I'll be sure to watch for it.

I actually hadn't planned on going tonight till a friend of mine called me up last week and asked to see if I wanted to go. It will be a bit crazy, but since I'm not all worked up for it, I'm not too concerned where I sit. I'll probably end up seeing quite a few more times over the length of the summer.

i just hate being in the city, 20-30 mins early and still sitting in the 2nd row. but now that i'm in hickville, and people are busy at the bikini car wash, i might just get a better seat...

i fell asleep when they rereleased the first 3 in theaters and i went to an 11 pm or so show... that' just how i am though.

fell asleep duing lord of the rings too, but i was on heavy drugs after having the wisdom teeth out a day or 2 before... ha

Heh. I don't get the whole Star Wars thing. I might go see it in a couple of weeks if the reports are good.

I was 12 when the original Star Wars came out. I still remember going to the theater to see it. Wow is all I could say.

Today you look at the movie and you see all the problems with it, technically (special effects are amazingly bad by today's standard) as well as acting. But the movie as a whole blew pretty much everyone away. It was one of those movies that raised the bar, set the standard for the genre.

It was sort of like the Matrix in the effect it had on the movie industry in general. That set todays standard, and the new Matrix should be even better. Does that help explain it a little?

I'm being 'escorted' to the midnight screening myself... RJ is a huge star wars nut, he's got all (most all) of the figures, etc etc... we grabbed the tix yesterday, i guess Des Moines doesn't have quite the fan following other places do-- no lines. But this movie doesn't have the pent-up craze that episode I had, being the first in how many years.

i'm thrilled to death. i just hope i don't fall asleep during the movie, rj'd kill me :)

I was 7. I was standing next to my Grandmothers 1976 Ford Mavrick at a drive in theatre in Panama City Florida. I had a light sabre in one hand and a storm trooper blaster in the other. That was one of the fondest memories of my childhood.

OMG, it totally rocked!!!! I just got back from the 12:01 showing. Every one who even remotely liked any of the others has to go. I'm not going to talk about the movie here, I don't want to spoil it. I'll start another thread with a warning in the title.

It was the best StarWars Movie yet! It should easily destroy all box office records in the long run.

WhooHoo, can't wait to go see it again this weekend.

Sorry dukestreet, but that has to be the worst film out of the series. I am a TOTAL FAN of the Star Wars universe(from the expanded book series, to the card game and beyond), but that movie leaves A LOT to be desired. The only way I'd ever see it again any time soon is when if I get the bootleg copy from a friend. I was expecting more...

I agree with dukestreet -- that was amazing!!! I'm not sure it was the best but it certainly wasn't the worst.

I can't even imagine how much processing time it took to render all of those digital effects...

it's right up there for greatness! yoda fighting! if that doens't bring in the mad cash, nothing will ;)
i like it. not THE greatest, but episode 3 sure has alot to live up to.
it was great and then some in my opinion. i left going "wow, i'm seeing that again, today if all possible!"
then again, there is some help with christopher lee being a bad guy, actually adds some acting prowess and depth to a bad guy. something star wars was lacking until now...

Lets discuss the points of the movie in the other thread, that way no one gives anything away to people who haven't seen the movie yet.
