iPhone in France

Can anyone help me out trying to understand the situation with iPhone in France. The web page is:

Im going there next week and really want a Pay and Go iPhone from them, or even better and unlocked one!

Im not french and I dont speak/read french either, but what I could understand was that the iphone is being released 17th of july and that there is no info on the website regarding a prepaid/no contract/paygo iphone yet.

They won't sell it with pay-as-you-go for the moment and if you want to buy it without subscription and unlocked it will cost at least 609 euros, pretty much expensive. You can unlock it for free after 6 months of use.

So would I ever have a problem with this does anyone reckon? I would love to be able to upgrade the firmware on my phone without having to worry about the firmware locking up because I had unlocked it. For an extra £100, it is worth it! And it would have huge re sale value over other iPhones presumably!

Yes the white model will be avalaible as the same time and I don't think we will have shortages because it is launched on 17 july.

I'm slightly on the same boat with the original poster, but well, I guess it could be a lot different.

I have a contract with orange France at this moment and the contract with them will expire at the end of August.

Here are things I am confused about and hopefully someone will help me out (or I should do really study my French a bit more):

1. If I want to get an iPhone with my existing contract, will it cost me the same amount as getting a new contract? ie 200 Euros for the 16GB version. I heard from somewhere that you have to pay an extra 50 Euros if you want to re-up your contract and get the iPhone (which I think is rather rubbish). You also apparently need 2400 "points de fidelite", which I do have.

2. If you want a 12 months contract, you have to pay an extra 4.50 Euros per month. Is that correct?

Any help will be appreciated.

If you buy the iphone 16Gb or even 8Gb you will get a discount of 100 euros a few days after your purchase. If you want to suscribe for another 12 months it will cost you 4,5 euros more.
