to make a long story short ALL video options at very low

>Results: 14-15 fps on my main charachter outside cities, 6-7 fps inside cities, 3 fps inside raid instances, 1 or 0.5 (record!) during fights in raid instances

well i played wow on this with decent frame per second before tbc, even in 40men instances.

i've looked on all forums, FAQs, guides and ancient dusty macintosh spellbooks. No clue to grow fps rate for more than 1.

i've tried to update the graphic board but (and this is the funny part of the story) ATI company doesn't recognize the existence of a Radeon 9700 "mobility", Apple says that the 9700m is equipped only on rare models of powerbook and don't exist drivers from third parts.

Blizzard's technical forum simply didn't help

feel free to ask me any specification about my PB if this can help someone of you in bringing light on our mac-psychodrama

Your computer should definitely do better than that. I can't remember exactly what the power settings look like in 10.3 but check in your system preferences and make sure your power settings aren't set to automatic or low.

- reduce screen resolution right down - try 800x600 and work your way up.

- maybe upgrade to 10.4? (contains new drivers)

- turn multisampling off.

- some games run better full screen than windowed.

- run a system cleaner (Cocktail or SterMachine)

- check your login items - maybe you are loading unneccessary stuff on login

- reboot and dont load any other apps before playing.

All these things helped when I was trying to get UT2004 to run smoothly on my powerbook.

Weird, my ibook worked better than that on WoW with similar settings (only diff is res, which i had set to 1024x768)

10.4 seems to be a sweet spot for WoW and PowerPC macs - might be worth upgrading to that?

Hmm seems low.

I ran WoW on my 12 inch PB G4 with 1.5GHz, 768 MB ram and nvidia 5200 go.
The 9700 should be much faster.

I usually had 20 fps outside citites and 10-12 in shatt. In SSC/TK I had 4-10 FPS. I ran in 10.4.X tho

I have a 15" G4 PowerBook similar to the ops (see sig) and even get these results in Leopard running at 1280x854. Tiger was a bit better, but only about 2 fps or something.

Does your (op) ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 have 128 mb gfx memory? Didn't they make 64 and 128 mb versions of it?

Anyway something seems wrong here, maybe it's best to try Tiger, like others have mentioned.

thank you for the quick answer

i have the 128 version
make sure your power settings aren't set to automatic or low.
done, they were set to max
- reduce screen resolution right down - try 800x600 and work your way up.
done, but it does worse: from 4 fps at Org gates to 2.3
- turn multisampling off.
if u mean FSAA multisampling, yes i had already turned off from Ati Display
- run a system cleaner (Cocktail or SterMachine)
done but nothing changed
- reboot and dont load any other apps before playing.
i do this everytime :(

- check your login items - maybe you are loading unneccessary stuff on login
how can i check which programs my mac loads on startup?

i've done a test with xbench1.3 (hope to not spam too much in pasting results )

i've also another question: if my graphic is 9700 mobility why opengl extension viewer says that i have "Renderer:ATI Radeon 9600 XT OpenGL Engine" ????

i really wouldn't spam but maybe the openGL EV report may be of some help:
