My guess is around tomorrow morning?

Apple is probably getting the servers ready for the iPod touch upgrade, and since LOTS OF PEOPLE are planning to upgrade, they might be adding the iTunes servers so that it doesn't bring iTunes down, like what happened during x-mas two years ago, when lot of people tried to redeem their iTunes gift card, which led to iTunes server crashing.....

Chances are it'll be up when the iPhone officially launches in the United States, which I think is in a matter of hours.

At least that's what I hope.

Who knows? It's all speculation. I'd got the impression it would have been available yesterday (that's Thursday).

I don't think the launch of 2.0 has anything to do with the iPhone launch. After all, iPhone users have been able to update to 2.0 since Thursday. Also, the apps have been available to download since then.

Me too - slow download though.

Touch users will have to pay for the official upgrade - about £10 I believe. Not bad for the extra functionality.

I'm downloading right now. Another guy said it worked (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=516600&page=2)

Well it worked. It's syncing now. I never got the January Apps, but they are all there with 2.0.

I actually didn't realize that this was the same paid 2.0. (I some how got it in my mind that there would be a free version and a paid one. Dumb, I know.)

Anyways, it took forever to load up but it looks great now. I am totally going to give Apple ten $10 tomorrow morning. I would suggest everyone does the same. (Come on)

Hmmm i dunno, my update has finished and is sitting on my desktop. it looks genuine, or i could just wait for the official one. Its not the cost that bothers me, it impatience...

Me too - I can't wait to try it! Still downloading here, though. Let us know what you decide. It appears that others have got it working:

The file name says 5A345. Isn't that the beta build? That's the only thing holding me back from trying.

Btw, paying no matter what, like others have said. Ima wait this one out. Looks like someone just put up the beta 2.0 (Which should be identical to release except in number, but problems with official apple updates may come up- who knows?)

Why can't Apple just make up their freaking minds!? Do they want to release the update yet or not?

I can just see Steve Jobs sitting there, laughing his head off, as he continues to confuse us...

Nobody knows when Apple will make this available. It was wrong of them to put a 2.0 download link on their site when they know the link doesn't work.

I like Apple products, but their service is really ill-conceived.

C'mon it's gone back to 1.1.4 as the latest version :(

It's going to be as bad as this tomorrow anyway, so I don't know why people seem to think it will get better tomorrow - it's not like the servers are going to grow extra space overnight...

Same, I think it will be Monday before things get much better.

Might go play on the Xbox for a few hours and come back...

Anyone know if the 3rd party links to the 2.0 Firmware are legit?

Interesting that CNET posts the direct link, but it is against the rules here.

Nobody can or will tell you what to do with the resulting files anyway, so it hardly matters.

This http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1545972/1550444/ link worked for me, running 2.0 and want to get back to playing Crash Bandicoot on my Touch, so I'll keep it simple:

1. Click the link (http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1545972/1550444/) , individually download all 3 rapidshare '.rar' files.

2. After you have the 3 '.rar.' files in the same place, open one of them with UnRarX. (you may need to install it (http://www.unrarx.com/)).

3. Go to iTunes, shift click (or option click) restore, and select the .ipsw file that was created in the location of the .rar files.

Enjoy! Works great for me!
