This may be a stupid question, but as long as I have my iTunes open and my iPhone connected it will eventually connect to the iTunes Store and active? Right now I am just clicking between ITunes store and iPhone manually and keep getting the server error.

I kept trying every 30 minutes or so. Frantically clicking on a playlist and then back on the phone under devices just throws up the -9838 or -4 error. I found if you try sparingly the connection seems to sustain a bit longer and eventually it just worked.

Don't hammer it because it most likely wont work and will also compound the problems Apple have.
