I've had 'em all today and now this one. Apple shouldn't have released so many things on the same day.
Previous 1st gen owners should have been updated yesterday, released 3g today. MobileMe today too? No wonder their servers are bummed out.

Everything was released at the same time because they are all dependent on each other. Mine activated about 15 minutes ago. Dont keep frantically accessing the store. Try every 30 minutes or so. I found the connection is maintained longer than constantly clicking on the phone. Mine just activated on its own.
