How would I go about adding a password to one of my shared folders so that when accessing this folder on my other windows computers on my home network you will be asked to enter a password to view the folder contents?

You could create a new user lets say 'guest' with the password you want and then set the permissions so people have to login with that account to see the folder contents. Is the user account you use on the mac password protected?
