Has anyone received updates to any apps they have downloaded yet? If so, which ones?

I'm actually asking this as a developer who is trying to figure something out about how updates work...

Thanks, are you one of the developers?

How did the update process go? How did you know it needed to be updated?

I'm curious whether any personal settings or data you have in the apps are still there after the updates.

What I found annoying about the updates is that it acts like its a new install. So it installs the update at the end of your applications and then deletes the original icon.

Therefore screwing up the order of the icons you have arranged.

Could get very annoying after a while, especially with lots of updates. I updated Mobilenews and NY Times and both did this.

I couldn't agree more, I wish it would actually perform and update instead of reinstalling the application. I have my apps in a specific order and this makes it really annoying. I hope this is something they can address in the future.

when I turned the iPhone on this morning there was a red '2' over the apps store icon, so I went to the updates area and selected each individually and updated right on the phone. True, it did re-order the apps, but I am still happy that I don't have to go searching to find what apps have been fixed.

very happy with 2.0...I upgraded my son's Touch last night as well. Much smoother compared to upgrading the iPhone at 6 AM yesterday! :p

So in addition to screwing up the icons, does it also delete any personal data/settings you have entered into the app?

I'm not sure as both of my apps didn't have any info entered, but if I had to guess I would say it does delete info because it looks like it's reinstalling the app completely. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

Has anyone else noticed whether info is left in tact after an app update?

I hope Apple launches an update that will allow us to customize the order of the apps.

I hope the updates aren't like windows vista, where it would hijack your phone in the middle of a 911 call.

Update went fine. Kind of weird how it has to completely download the program again instead of just adding to it. I noticed it because there was a little "1" next to the updates in the App Store.

Hold down on an icon for a few seconds. The icons will start to shake and you can rearrange them.

All my data was erased when I upgraded MotionX-Poker on Friday night. :(

Glad to see the NYT app updated as my original version was not working well the first few hours with it.

Big fan of that application and am hoping other papers add one as well

NYT did a decent job on their application.

I'm a big fan of the WSJ and Financial Times - hopefully they'll find their way to the iPhone.

I hope if Pocketpedia updates we don't lose all the items we've entered. I've got half my DVD collection entered in so far.
