I did the .Mac trial a few months ago and chose not to go for a fully paid account (wasn't convincing enough). Is there a way to do a MobileMe trial using my old (and now expired) .Mac account?
Thanks!

I use to have a .Mac trial account as well and just signed up for a MobileMe trial account using the same username which worked.

i think as soon as the trial ends and you don't subscribe, it would wipe all your data. so by using your old username, it's just creating a new one with the unused name... but i don't know.

also, it seems to not really know if you've had a trial before, which was nice, because i had a .mac one and didn't subscribe, but i was able to sign up for a mobileme one anyway.

Nor does logging in with my old username and password (the same as I still use as .Mac IM account, without any problems), as suggested by the MM FAQ (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1932). If I try that I get a "Invalid member name or password."-message.

And I can still sign in using the System Preferences (both before and after the .Mac -> MM update):
124187
So how do I re-activate it (preferably getting a 60-day trial in the process, before I decide if this is worth paying NOK 690,- ≈ US$136 per year)? Anyone managed something like this?

I found this post in a Google search and I am wondering the same thing. I wanted to try MobileMe using my old .Mac trial username. I still use the AIM screenname (@mac.com) associated with my trial. However unlike you, I cannot log in using the System Preference. That says: Invalid member name or password.
If anyone has any ideas on how to either get a free trial or purchase MobileMe using an expired .Mac trial account name, that would be great.

gadawg, go to www.me.com and then say sign up for trial, or whatever. anyone having the problem where they can log in through system preferences, but not on the me.com site?? I was able to start a new trial with my old username and information no problem, i just can't log into me.com to cancel before apple charges me for it, granted that i still have 2 months to figure it out.:apple:
