iPod touch Just waited 2 hours for the 2.0 update to install and my songs are gone

So like what was the point of "backing up" my 7GB if my music is still gone and it did not re-add it back? Did they just feel like wasting 2 hours of my time while it "backed up" then it "restored" even though i have nothing.

UPDATE: all my stuff shows up in itunes but not on the actually ipod itself...........
