iPod touch How long were you in the Preparing Ipod Software For Restore Stage

I was just a bout to post the same exact thing. I've been sitting here for what feels like a couple minutes. Hope all is well.

Don't panic. It takes a while -- several minutes. In fact, the whole process takes quite a while. A couple restarts, then once the update is actually installed the iPod has to reload all your content (which also takes a while). Even after all that I had to immediately sync again to get all my downloaded apps to load. Worth it in the end though!

I am majorly panicing right now as it is still doing it's thing after so long, I wonder if it is not frozen...

Oh!.. my ipod is stuck in this stage since 1 and half hours!! What shall I do? shall I switch it off eventhough it shows "Preparing ipod software for restore"?
Or shall I unplug it from computer? What shall I do? Please help somebody. Has everyone taken so long in this stage or its just me?

I guess it just depends on how much data is stored on your ipod. It has to format all your storage so it might take a while.
after waiting all this time for the new ipod touch update to download, after it went to install it i got some error and now im doing the
