I'm soon ordering a dell monitor, but in the meantime, I decided to hook up an old monitor to my macbook. I picked up a mini-dvi to vga adapter and tried to hook it up to my Hp f1703, but when I try to turn on the monitor, it won't turn on. I'm assuming it's busted, I guess i'll have to test it on another computer. Can you think of any other reason why it wouldn't be working?

Is it plugged in? Is there a standby light (usually amber)?

If it won't power up, the computer has nothing to do with it.

There is no standby light, the monitor is completely non-responsive, and it is plugged into the computer. The only wire coming from the monitor is the one connecting it to the computer, and I would have assumed it needed a power supply, but i don't see a port for one so i guess it doesnt.

What?

You are KIDDING, RIGHT? The monitor isn't plugged into a power supply and you're wondering why it won't start up? Come ON, man.

Look a bit harder.

I really hope this is a joke. Do you try to start your car without gas, too?
