Have 2 MB Late '06, Thinking of new MBP

So, I'm having some thoughts here. My wife and I have each an MB Late '06... mine works just fine, and only suffers from something like this (http://www.appledefects.com/?p=267). My wife's, on the other hand, just broke a little bit more; the SuperDrive is behaving in a strange matter (doesn't seem to read all discs that you put in, only some) and today the battery died. It simply died... won't let the computer turn on and when I press the button won't show any charge at all (after leaving it charging the whole day.)

So, I'm thinking of upgrading (mainly to eliminate one of the computers cause we really need only one) but I need some advise on the price of each of them. I was hoping to get at least for both something around $1200 (since one is in perfect condition and the other one needs a new superdrive and a new battery).

What say you to that, eh?

Are your MB's under Apple Care warranty? Can't really answer without knowing that. :)

Nope... if they were under warranty I would definitively not sell them and just pay for the repairs. I guess at this time most of the MB health depends on how well I've treated it (that is, very well, cause I can't just afford to buy a computer every time I want, or need.) The MB that needs the new parts was one of the MB's that was affected by the discoloration of the palm rests back in the day.

Do you think $1200 is a decent price to ask for or is it just shameful to actually ask for that?
