im sorry.... I mean is there a program that will allow me to customize the intervals in which it syncs?

I don't know of any besides the built in preferences of:
automatically

every hour
every day
every week

manually

Would be nice to not only have a preference for what you want but also which items you want synced, such as specific calendars and specific address book groups.
