Nope. You can't see smudges. You catch some dirt here or there but you just wipe it off. Its like my macbook white.

I have to admit, I was sure I wanted a Black 16GB model, but when I saw the white one, and everyone sold out of the black ones, so I went with white.

I have always had white iPods, so it seemed like a natural fit. I like the way it matches the dock/cable/charger, etc.

I think it's a good choice for me!

glad you're happy with your purchase, but I'm still not much of a fan of the white one. I haven't used my black iphone 3G out in public much yet, but the few times I have, I've noticed several people catching a glance of it and then staring and watching me, but never saying anything

I generally like white products (cars, macbooks, ipods, etc) so I was excited when the white was announced. But by the time launch day rolled around all the pics that were showing up online made it look like crap.

My girlfriend and her mom were so adamant about getting the black one and called me nuts for choosing white. Now after having the phone for a couple of days, my girlfriend's mom is jealous of my white one. That being said, they both look really good.

I ended up getting the white, too...and I am loving it!!! To be honest, I would have taken any color they had, but so happy to have gotten a white one...just the most awesome phone I have ever owned. I've been playing with it nonstop since getting it yesterday!:D

I was looking at the black online for the last 30 days and was sure that was going to be the one for me. Then while sitting in line for 3 hours before the AT&T store opened it hit me. White was the one for me, when I got into the store (#8) they asked me what I wanted and went for the 16g White. Glad I did as it is awesome!

I was visiting my friend at his job (starbucks) and I got a call and I answered it. I totally forgot I had a 3G since the front looks exactly the same but the back is really eye catching.

Someone ended up asking me if that was the new 3G iPhone and I got into a couple of conversations with like 3 people there wanting to see it, asking about it, etc.

Threads like these cause me to question my decision to go with the black 16GB. It is gorgeous, but so predictable. The bolder choice would have been to go with the equally gorgeous white one. :(

idk i don't like bright colors often. I Love my MacBook and its white shininess, but idk how the black and white contrast on an iPhone will work out. Black and black = sexy but black and white = clashing colors... Idk though i have to check it for real to know what you guys are saying.

I wish Apple would include both backcases if it were possible to switch them up once in a while :o

I got a good look at both in the store, before I bought...I just loved the black, but decided I loved the white, too...then when it came down to my turn...all they had left was ONE white iPhone so it was an easy decision for me...LOL I really do like it, and have to say that... black and white does not clash, at least not to us gals! I think white with a white front would have looked kind of odd, but maybe not!:)

I never understand why people say the black front does not look good with the white back. No one (including the user) ever sees the two sides at the same time. If you're talking on it then others can see the white back as you hold it to your ear. If you're browsing online or playing an app game, etc, then you're only going to see the "black" side. Even holding it at it's side you see mostly white and the chrome on the bezel. I suppose if you placed it at an angle you could see both sides simultaneously but how often would you do that?

Both pretty but..... My white issues:

~ I would not want to be at a club or concert with a white. Would stick out like a sore thumb. Not stealthy.
~ Seems more kids/very young people are choosing the white..... Teens. Saw what had to be a 9 year old on youtube with a white. Tells me something.
~ Apple logo doesn't pop as well as the black. I like the pop on the black.
~ Writing on the back seems to stand out more on the White.
~ An Apple employee describing the White for the crowd called it a "GIANT TIC-TAC" Actually I think he meant Chicklet. It does.
~ Surely obvious if holding it up to take photos. Not always a good thing.

I like both and kept going back/forth - but the black is sexy/stunning/elegant whereas the white seems too blatant/not as cool/yes, more girl oriented/cutesy.

I'm a female, bought a black 16g. Still have the option to give the Black to my husband & get a white but I think I'll stick with Black. Putting a clear skin on it. Zero smudges forever. A clean Black iPhone is gorgeous.

I saw the pics, and thought it was ok, but once I got it in my hand (and ignored the anti-theft device) I just loved how it looks. Its freaking amazing looking, and the black/white color scheme doesn't actually clash. I love it, and it is amazing:cool:

I saw the white one and the black one together and I think the white one looks better at first and it catches your eye but if you look at the black one after it looks much better.

I was drawn to the white one when I first saw the pictures, but still didn't want to decide before I saw them in person.

And while standing in line on Friday, watching he first people coming out with their newly bought iPhones, blacks and whites, I just knew I had to get the white one.

I'd probably be equally happy with the black one, and whilst in the iPhone line, we were told that the 16GBs were sold out, so I was mentally prepared to get the black 8GB - if I could get any at all, those where also getting scarce - but luckily NetCom flew in another shipment, with 40 new iPhones (to replace a shipment that had gone missing, and was later found at a obscure storage space in the shopping centre and sent back to NetCom to use in the online store). So when I finally - after 4 1/2 hours in line - I could pick and choose, and got my initial first choice.

Unfortunately those of us in the UK who already had iPhones/contracts with O2 weren't able to get the white model. If I'd have that option, I'd definitely have gone for it :(

I to was on the fence about which one to get. While in line at the new leawood ks apple store I finally settled on the white. Could not be happier. When talking with others in line most were set on the black. Once in the store I saw a trend of more people going with the white.

Indeed the White is sexier and that's what I got.

found that pic! I currently have a black 16gb but i like the lack of smudges, the look of the white and silver together, and because its limited edition I want one while I can get one! check out why I realized im glad they didnt do white on the front for the white model!
