Hand me down iphone blows eligibility?

I thought I read that somewhere?

I have the 2g iphone, i was going to give it to my dad who is upgrade eligible but does it blow that for him? -- so he would have to wait two years again??

If so I'll just get him the 3g and ebay my old one..

Dude, get him the 3g for him, and ebay your old one anyway.
You'll probably make a buck.

Actually, there should be no issues for either of you, as your dad will have a phone on his plan that was payed for at full price.

Not everyone lives on a 3g capable area

They live in a small town where 3g may never show up -- so why pay the extra 15/month?
