Hi,

When I open up terminal, the prompt looks like:

firstname-lastname-imac:~ username$

Is there a way to change the firstname-lastname part of it? It looks silly hehe.

That's taken from your user name. Create a new user with the name you prefer, or get used to it. Do NOT change the name of your home directory.

You can change the hostname under the Sharing Preference pane in System Preferences. 😛

Can someone guide be a little, I can't find that preference pane!

btw, what do you use for screenshots?

can I open up .rar files natively or I need to download a rar program? (i used winrar before on xp)

I usually use The Unarchiver or UnRarX for my GUI decompression.

What a lot of us use for screenshots is Skitch. You'll love it!
