The iPod has 30 pins on the "dock connector". 6 are for FireWire, 6-8 for audio/remote control. That still leaves 16 some pins!

Does anyone know, or have any idea what the other ones might be for? I assume audio in would be a couple. Could they be video out? What?

Some would probably be for USB, and don't hold your breath for video. The iPod doesn't have the processing power or hardware for that.

they are there so that apple does not have to change the connector for some time and can still add functions as they see fit.
