Anyone familiar with this site and their cases? I'm thinking about purchasing this one in particuluar (see link below).

Is it a clear hardshell that covers the entire phone? How tough is the shell? Will it break if dropped? Will the phone itself be damaged if dropped?

http://ivyskin.com/detail.php?proid=68#feature

Thanks!

I'm currently debating between that case and this...

I've got one of these cases for the 2G iPhone, I'm not sure how tough the plastic is to be honest (as I've never dropped the phone!) but you can use the screen easily through the case (I've also got a screen protector on my phone and it works through this as well).

The only downside to the case is that it sometimes lets dust in around the openings but it is without a doubt the best iPhone case I have owned and many people comment on how sleek it looks, it doesn't add very much weight or bulk to the phone at all.

I ordered online from the Uk and my 2G case arrived four working days later so I have no problems with the delivery either. I have just ordered a case for my 3G phone and will post some pics and a review once it has arrived.

Previous to this I used the Otterbox case (http://www.otterbox.com/iphone-cases/iphone-defender-case/) which was also excellent but made the phone exceptionally bulky.

I hope this helps with your buying decision!:)

Thank you for your response, Drpsych. Did you have any issues regarding fingerprints getting stuck on in the inside of the case?

Which would you recommend? The ivyskin case that covers the entire phone, or the Spec see-thru case that covers the entire phone minus the touch screen portion?

That looks identical to the Gear4 IceBox Pro I bought from the AppleStore last week when I bought my iPhone. Yes it does cover the whole front face as well as the back (apart from a round cut out for the home button and a slot for the earpiece speaker) and it's great! Yes it adds a couple of mm width and depth but I feel much more confident about what will happen when (not if:o) I drop my iPhone...

Yeah mine says "IceBox Pro" on the box not just "IceBox for iPhone 3G" (see the pictures I posted in my other thread) - it's different from what's on the Gear4 website. But I bought mine off the shelf in the Apple Store last week so it's already available.

Not at all. When I first put it on (in a Starbucks opposite the Apple Store) I had already got fingerprints and smudges all over the screen of my iPhone. Later that day I wanted to get the IceBox case off to clean the phone properly before putting it back in and it took me about half an hour to figure out how to get the case off. (You need quite a long thumb-nail to push down in between where the two pieces clip together and then you sort of squeeze the edges of the back piece while sliding it upwards).

I remember having a Contour clear plastic hard case for my first iPod from 2002 that gouged scratches in the white plastic of the iPod when you took the case off (still got it actually, a 10GB first version of the ipod, with an actual wheel that turns round. Awesome! It's in a leather flip case now though).

However, this Gear4 one can be removed and put back on with no damage to the back of the iPhone at all (unless you had loads of hard grit particles or similar on the back of your iPhone and then rammed the IceBox case over them-I suppose that would scratch the iPhone back).

In regards to the Ivyskin case, I ordered mine last Sunday (the 13th) and have yet to receive it. Yesterday I emailed them through their website and received a fairly prompt reply saying that they're back ordered until the 25th. Well, here's the actual email:

"Xylo T3 and Xylo duo 3G will be available to ship after July 25, 2008 according to ETA and every order ships based on the class of mail chosen and the date received, Please let us know if you prefer to wait or cancel your order, we apologize for any inconveniences and Thanks for your interests on our products."

So sounds like they sold out of their first lot and are waiting for more to arrive to ship out. I still have mine on order but I'm debating looking for something else at this point. Anyways, probably some useful information if you're thinking about ordering the ivyskin.

i believe the "brushed aluminum" is BLACK brushed aluminum. ur probably looking for a grey/silver aluminum. anyways, i like the back of this case more than the case-mate (cleaner) but it's not worth the extra $20 or so US dollars. :(

Their phone line is a dead line. Goes straight to voicemail NO MATTER what line you call, what time of day, etc. You're only shot at contact with them is e-mail... Good luck brah.

I sent them a email and it came back as MAILER-DAEMON Returned, So their email does not work either. As much as I like this case, It has become to much of a headache for me, I don't need it that bad. I found this one on Ebay last night and went ahead and bought it, It looks pretty much the same, and has the same specs.

I received my case today that I ordered on Ebay. At first I was a little disappointed with the front screen, It had some small scratches and was not crystal clear, had tiny air bubbles in the black part of the screen protector, there was no instructions in or on the box, So after sitting and looking at it I decided that it must be a thin protective shipping film over the face, so I used my fingernail and started scratching the edge and presto it started to peel back, I got a hold of it and peeled it off, Now I am happy with the way it looks, Crystal clear, The case works just fine. I paid $29.00 for it so I save $10.00 by not buying the Ivyskin

I must admit I am a fool. :( Even though it will be forever to get a Naked Case and the iPhone 3G XyloT3, I went ahead and ordered the iPhone 3G XyloT3 Reflect Case. For all the time and headaches involved, I should of just purchased a Vaja Case.

I seriously doubt the Ivyskin actually has a phone system at this time. It is next to impossible to reach no matter what time of the day it is.

I just received the case yesterday buy I can tell you it shows the finger prints and smudges just the same as if you were using a shield, or the screen if you don't have any protection at all. I am not so concerned about cleaning the screen now as it is very solid and I don't think there is the possibility of damaging the touch screen if you are pressing to hard unlike with the thin shield. Also with the shield I could not remove the air bubbles no matter how much I tried, so it is nice looking at a clear screen. All in all I am happy with the looks and functionality of the case, all of the access ports are readily available for the ear phones, connectors. It only took three days to receive the case once I bid on it.

I have read that the naked case and xylot2 have air bubbles when you touch the screen, how is this one? Also, do you think it will work/fit with an invisible shield?

Once I removed the shipping protection film from the face of the case, It was crystal clear, The phone fits inside nice and snug, no rattles at all, When I use the touch screen there are no bubbles or anything what so ever, just like touching the phones screen. I don't think that you would want to put another protective shield over the case or inside on the phones touch screen. The case seems just fine, I am not sure what help this case would be if you dropped it. It might take the hit and shatter and leave the phone undamaged, But I suspect if it hit on any corner the phone might get damaged also, (sorry I am not going to test it) but I could be wrong. I tried to put the silicon rubber skin that I bought with the phone over the case but it didn't fit. If I can find one that fits I might use it over the case, It might make it a little more bulky, but it might save me some grief if I ever drop the phone.:)

Thanks! I found a leather horizontal case at walmart that said "fits iphone". It was too big for just the phone, but with the clear case it should be perfect.

The only reason I wanted to keep the IS (other than the $15 I paid) is dust getting in the case and scratching the screen.

Hi all

I'm considering getting the XyloT3..It looks like what I've been looking for and will decide as soon as someone here is kind enough to post a feedback and some pics..I still don't have the iPhone 3G coz its not even on sale where I live (but its launching any day this month)...I know I won't find any decent case for it when it debuts here so will be asking an uncle from USA who's visiting me next month to bring it for me(saves shipping costs)..I'm wondering if anyone has any discount code or coupon that I could use? It does pinch to pick this up coz of the conversion rate..

Also I really wanted something like gelaskin / decal just on the back..so do you think it'll still fit with the XyloT3?

Thanks

Looks good, fits perfectly, but...
..it isn't anywhere near as responsive as I thought the phone would be with the case on.
It does require more pressure and multitouch seems much less usable

No. No screen protector underneath
The case itself fits very well adds little weight or bulk, just trying to see if I can live with the reduced sensitivity. (Should say that after just half a day's use it seems easier)

somebody mentioned here that there was a shipping protection film on the case, I don't know if it was outside the case or inside? Did you see it and removed it? I'm thinking that is causing the reduced response of the touch screen...

I ordered mine on July 14th and my order number was about 200 orders after yours :)

Here's some photos of my xylo. The touch through seems to work fine for me.

There was a very thin plastic film on the outside of the front cover. They had a big notice in the shipping box that said to remember to remove it. I removed it and it seems to be working OK.

Been using it for a few days now, my only gripes are that it doesn't fit on the iphone dock. It does fit on my Sony Alarm Clock Radio dock (ICFC1iPMK2). Without the case, I never got any device errors. With the case, because the connections are probably not as flush, I intermittently get the "this device was not made for iphone errors" with the dock, but they can be easily dismissed and it works fine.

Overall, I feel MUCH better having this case on. The fact that it's a clear case keeps my white iphone looking good and the fact that it's a hardshell case that can cover the screen as well makes me feel better with my fumbly hands :)

The pictures of the just the case were taken with my iphone while waiting in the doctor's office today:

I used the attachments feature of the macrumors forum.

Do these links work?

I guess those links don't work :o

I see what happened. I originally attached the photos using the manage attachments feature of the forum, then I embedded the photos in the post using the thumbnail attach feature, but then it showed the attachments in both places (inline and at the bottom), so I went back and edited, thinking I would just be removing the attachments from the bottom, but it actually removed the attachments from the database. Looks like macrumors has some caching on their database server, so I still saw the photos in the thread, while others that viewed it for the first time didn't.

Anywho...here's the photos again :)

Since they are in stock now, I imagine they are shipping faster.

When I ordered on July 14th, their inventory wasn't in yet, so they didn't ship it until the end of July.

My order was confirmed on the 1st and I'm still waiting for the case to arrive. I'm in Japan, so I'm accustomed to waiting longer for shipments, but am really looking forward to it arriving!

There are virtually NO cases for the iPhone here... only one that's available through the phone carrier, Softbank. It's a silicon-style case that's not very attractive, but better than nothing.

One thing I'm worried about is heat... with all the talk of cracks, could the XyloT3 hard case possibly add to this problem? The reason for the case is to protect the phone and it'd be a shame if it actually caused damage!!

I have never seen the ivyskin so I don't know the difference in the way they feel. But this one that I bought on ebay looks the same to me. touch screen works just fine with the one piece cover/shield. plus I saved around $15.00. They got it to me in three days.

I did not even get a chance to order one, I tried there phone number many times over a three day period, and no one answered the phone, just went to voice mail, tried e-mailing them and it came back "undeliverable" Tried to order on-line(five times) and could not get to the confirmation screen. Saw this one on ebay , Bought it with the "buy it now" and had it three days later.
Saved $15.00 and it looks like the same case, just different name.

No I have not tried to put a screen protector under the case. I bought a INCIPO
silicon case at the AT&T store when I got my phone as I wanted to have it in something until I found the case I wanted, It has a shield that you put on the screen, but I could not get all the air bubbles out from under it. and it really annoyed me to have to look at it, and worse to show my new iphone with all of these air bubbles in the screen to people who wanted to take a look at the new 3G phone. So I kinda want to keep clear of these shields.

I'd beware of these cases, I have been using mine for a few days. If any sort of semi hard particle gets between the back of the case and the phone, the next time you remove the case it will drag the particle across the back causing scratching/bite marks in the plastic.

I have had this happen with two iPhones. I really wanted a case like this to work, but I'm afraid to put it back on

Here's some photos of my xylo. The touch through seems to work fine for me.

There was a very thin plastic film on the outside of the front cover. They had a big notice in the shipping box that said to remember to remove it. I removed it and it seems to be working OK.

I just got my Xylo T3 case, where is this plastic film you are talking about, I've been trying to see if I can pry them out of the front cover of the case but it doesn't seem like there is one, I'm using my fingernails.

Mine was the same as yours.:)

The film covers the entire top of the case. Peel gently from a corner until you have it up a bit....then hold the case firmly with a little pressure on the black part as it will pull up from the crystal case if you pull the film too quickly. I just got mine from ebay today. This is the one with the larger opening at the top over the earphone. The Gear4 one has a smaller opening that just displays the earphone. This is important and I will tell you why later.

Now, my thoughts. I am not happy with it and I'm not mad at it. A few things. It does alter the iphone looks abit. The thin silver bezel around the top surface of the iphone is covered by the black portion of the top lid. This is somewhat compensated for by the case sides shining around the edges which almost gives you back that nice silver ring. The biggest problem I see with the case is that the larger opening at the top lets in dust particles within 10 seconds of closing the case. These are annoying, but only if you look for them. I'd like to check out the gear4 case as its opening is only large enough to display the earphone, but its too expensive. I payed 21 bucks for this one including shipping. So, in all, not a bad case with a few irritations. I have seen the bubble effect but it goes away with a gentle squeeze of the sides of the case. As for sensitivity...it is diminished somewhat....not bad though. You can get used to it. Its nicer sliding your finger over the actual iphone screen, but then it wouldnt be protected. The scrolling function is actually not affected at all, but clicking on buttons seems to be a bit different. I left a screen protector on my front to protect it from anything that may get inside the case. This may account for some of the sensitivity loss. Who knows. So, all in all.....not all that great, but not all that bad either. You have to protect your phone and this case will do that while still maintaining some of the phones original style. As for those who are worried about scratching the iphone back when taking the case off...I take mine off by unlatching the top and then lifting the back off. This case does have the ability to scratch the back of the phone though. Of course thats going to happen no matter what type of case you put on it. So, 7 out of 10. Thats the best I can rate.

I don't know guys, i've tried for a couple hours now but still cannot find that plastic film. It seems most of you guys with the films got it from ebay. I bought mine direct from ivyskin. I wish somebody here who bought directly from ivyskin recently can confirm of the plastic film if it exist. Now I don't really have any complaints, the front cover of the case is crystal clear, so that's why I'm really thinking there really is no film over it, but then there are annoying hairline scratches now just from wiping it so that alone makes me think that there is a film? Is this suppose to be anti-scratch? Also the touch screen doesn't respond very well on this case I'm thinking because of the film but I read on this post even without the film that is still the problem on this case.

I'm very disappointed on this case, the front side of the case seems flimsy, not as well built as I expect, and for some reason, I'm having a hard time closing or opening the case, the problem is in sliding the back of the case to the front of the case in or out.

I have to admit I'm comparing this to my Gear4 Icebox case, I don't have a problem getting the iphone in or out the icebox case, the front case is scratch resistant, I've had it for 3 weeks now and not one hairline scratch on it although the back of the case has a lot hairline scratches but I'm not looking at it anyway so no problem there. But the biggest difference is the response of the touch screen with the icebox case, the iphone responds very well on the icebox case even at a very light touch but the ivyskin is non-responsive most of the time, especially with the swiping part which is what I do most of the time on my iphone.

And so I probably have to return this case unless somebody else here can convince me otherwise. :(

I just got mine in today and I was very impressed with the quality of the product. The only problem is that Ivyskin sent me the wrong product. They sent me the Xylo-T3 reflective case instead of the clear one. Before deciding on wether to return the product all together or get them to exchange it for me I placed my iphone into the case. There are no bubble problems once the iphone is in the case. The screen has the same responsiveness as it does without the case and it does not add a lot of bulk to the actual phone itself. I just wish the case I received was not the reflective one because the chrome reflective thing is just annoying and takes away from the nice nature of the iphone.

O yeah it does not have a protective film over the top of the screen.

Someone says their case didn't have any protective film on it when they received it and some say it did have it on it. Receiving the wrong case after waiting weeks for it and spending $40.00 to boot. You can never get a hold of them by phone or email.

I think that if yours had a film on it you would know it. With the film on its not clear at all and will have many scratches on it. Once you take it off its ok. The Gear4 case has a smaller opening and thus will probably let in less dust....thats my reasoning for thinking the gear4 is better. But, I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a case. I'll wait to find one closer to home, etc.

Hi dubels...can you please post some pictures of your iphone with the reflective case...I quite liked it but am not sure...It'll really help if I could see some real life pictures...Thanks

All,
My friend who has the Ivyskin Xylo T3 told me this morning that there is some black residue on the front case where the black protective film is. He suspects it's residue cause from the heat of the iPhone. It didn't get on his phone. Just something to look out for. It appears that QC has gone down in that some people got protective films on their cases while others didn't.

Best regards,
Sean S.

I ordered mine on 8/7 and was shipped out on 8/9. I just received mine. Mine was shipped from Englewood, NJ (My shipping address is NYC). They must have a warehouse there.

Here are a few initial observations.

1. I don't have any to peel off. No wrappers over plastic covering the screen section.
2. Like another person on the forum, they sent me a wrong case - I got reflective one although I ordered a clear one. I am not sure if I am going to return it.
3. It is hard to use with a screen protector. When I had a Power Source screen protector on, I had to press real hard to use it.

I will update as I use more. Also, if I decide to return/exchange, let's see how ivyskin's customer service is responding to this. I just sent an email to IVYSKIN regarding exchange (8/13/08 2:40PM).

I got mines today from ebay, here's some pictures
The case fit snug there's a little air bubble but it goes away if I squeeze the side of the case a little. I have a screen protector I'm not sure if that's causing the air bubble. There's light scratches on the case, but nothing really bad. The touchscreen works fine with the screen protector on, I might try to order the mirror skin and see how it works with this case. This one costed me $12.99 So comparing to Ivyskin that's about $17.00 saving. I also have a $5.99 case coming from HK.

I'd beware of these cases, I have been using mine for a few days. If any sort of semi hard particle gets between the back of the case and the phone, the next time you remove the case it will drag the particle across the back causing scratching/bite marks in the plastic.

I have had this happen with two iPhones. I really wanted a case like this to work, but I'm afraid to put it back on
:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Sorry to say that you are right, Just removed my phone from the case to look for small cracks that other iphone users are reporting and guess what, A scratch on the back of the phone where the case slid across the back of the phone, bummer:mad:

For both of the cases I got, luckily there were no scratches.

However, the black one I did have a film which I had to remove and on the chrome, there was none.

After a day of usage, I am returning it. My experience with Ivyskin did not start on a right note because they sent me a wrong case, chrome one instead of black. In addition, there are other factors that made me return it. Here are some of my reviews and complaints.

The biggest gripe is that I keep getting bubbles in the screen area. No matter how much I cleaned it, I kept getting it. Second, the sensitivity of the screen with the case on is not consistent. The middle area is okay, but the top area is less than sensitive compared to the middle area. I had to press hard to move around. Third, the case is a fingerprint magnet. After moderate use, the front side of case is full of fingerprints.

To be fair, the plastic is of fine quality and fits well with iPhone G3. However, too many cons overweigh pros.

I believe the ones on ebay are the older model of Ivyskin, because the holes for the sensors are there in Ivyskins gallery, but now it's just a bigger opening on the top. I notice that the touch on the ebay ones aren't that responsive. I'm still going to use til something better comes up. I hate the dust getting between the case and phone.

I ordered a XyloDuo case in blue from them on the 7th. There has been no change on my status since that date, I tried calling them but they never answer their phone or got back to me after I left a message. Ivyskin has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. I think that they must work out of a storage unit and just have a fancy web page.

Unfortunately, you really need to threaten them before they will even attempt to do anything about a return. I complained to customer support and the VP of Operations because I had inquired about becoming a reseller. After all of the complaints on the forums and my personal experiences, I wrote a formal letter requesting a refund and outlined my disappointment. I received a full refund a few days ago.

Good luck!

Update.
I have to give credit where credit is due. I just got a response from ivyskin telling me that they have shipped me out a new case, a black one like I ordered, with a prepaid return package to send the chrome one back. Thirty seconds after I received the email there was a shipping confirmation from them in my inbox. I wish they would have done it a little earlier since I will be leaving town tomorrow for school.

I haven't had trouble with them yet so far, but I returned my case because I did not like and so based on what I read here in forum about their customer service, I decided to also file a dispute thru Paypal at the same time that I requested for a RMA# for a refund, I used Paypal to purchase this case. They responded right away! :D They were kinda mad when I filed a dispute but I told them I just want to keep the ball rolling and make sure I got their attention:D plus, even Paypal suggested that I do this just to make sure the seller respond quick. I've returned my case and still waiting for a refund. Wish me luck! ;)

After almost a month of waiting (ordered on July 14th), my case finally arrived on Friday. I'm in Japan, so shipping time was decent (about two weeks for standard shipping). I ordered the black iPhone 3G XyloT3 Case. There was a note in the box with instructions to remove the protective film on the front of the case. I believe this is found only with black models.

After using the case for about 5 days, I'm torn... It looks beautiful, esp. compared to the silicon case I was previously using.

However, the two sections of the case seem to be separating near the volume control buttons. Is this happening to anyone else? I can press the case together, but it splits again after only 30 minutes (esp. after bouncing around in my pocket).

At least you got a note about the protective film, I did not get one and mine doesn't have the protective film so it was already scratched. Plus I did not like the almost non-responsive reaction of the touch screen most of the time because of the case, even just swiping is kinda hard. With the problem with your case, make sure the top part in the middle are locked pretty good, that is the weirdest thing about that case, it's kinda hard also to take the phone out or even put the case together when the iphone is already on the case. So that's why I returned it and now I'm using my backup which is Gear4 Icebox and so far in my opinion is the best clear case I've seen so far.

I bought the ebay clone of the ivyskin, and it also splits like yours, I just kept snapping it back together, The case does not look like it will protect the phone to much if you dropped it so I made up my mind to get a iSkin Revo2 for my phone,I went back to my original silicon case until the iskin arrives. The touch screen shield on the clone works pretty good so I decided to remove it from the front frame and cut it down to the same size as the phone, I placed it on the phone and put the silicon case on. I am happy with it, No bubbles and it protects the face of the phone better than a thin shield. When the iskin shows up I will probably use it with that too.:)

The ivyskin and the Clones are the same case, Only difference is the missing ivyskin logo on the back, The same manufacture makes them, then ships them to dealers who write fancy descriptions for them and doubles the price. There are some cases that look like ivyskin but are not as good, looks like some of you bought that one off of ebay, and they do look cheap, but the one I bought off of ebay is the duplicate of the ivyskin, It has the same issues too.:)

I bought an iphone last monday (Aug 11th), ordered the ivyskin t3 on tuesday directly from their website, and received the T3 Touch Thru yesterday (monday).

I agree with the above assessments.

1. The build quality is good, especially the back plastic.
2. There was no film covering the front plastic part.
3. I get bubbles on the screen which then marks on the phone.
4. The sensitivity goes down quite a bit. Scrolling and resizing pages becomes a little more difficult, and the "back" buttons for Twinkle, Pandora, and the built in mail client become essentially unusable. It looks like the top left corner doesn't have as much sensitivity as teh middle part of the screen.
5. Closing the case is not straightforward. After you slide the case together, the top part is a bit split.
6. The interrior of the case had plastic burrs, which had to be removed, or filed down to prevent scratching the iphone.
7. The added size is fairly negligible.
8. Because of the openings, it leaves funny dust specs around the phone.

Overall I'm a bit underwhelmed. The case seems sturdy, looks good, will likely provide good protection and doesn't add much weight/bulk to the phone. However, the sensitivity is a big problem, the bubbles get annoying and the case doesn't come together properly.

I'd say 2.5 stars out of 5.

Certainly not worth $40

My claim:

I was one of the early orders for the T3. I waited 2 weeks past their advertised "ready date". When the item finally came, it did not fit properly. The touch screen was not apposed against the front of the case, causing you to have to push quite hard to make contact. The sides of the case did not lock together. Lastly, the case cracked while trying to adjust above issues. I emailed this to seller but have received no reply. Others have had similar experiences as outlined on the forums of macrumors.com. I want to be refunded for this item but have not heard back from seller. Please advise thank you.

You claim to stand behind your (faulty) product, yet you now accuse me of being unprofessional? You have lost a customer for life. Well I have gone through quite a few cases lately, But i have found the one that i am going to keep. The Iskin is the best case that I have tried and its the one that i will keep. The feel and looks and protection that it offers is in my opinion #1.
Here is a picture of the cases that I have tried, I bought the black incipo at the AT&T store when I purchased the iphone, It was ok but felt like it would slip off the phone. The next one is the blue ivyskin XYLO It took almost four weeks to receive it,with no response from ivyskin after numerous inquiries about shipment Its ok too but the silicon case feels a little to hard in my hand, The home button is really hard to push in. plus the screen protector that came with it does not fit the phone, it was to long! The next one is a crystal case that I got off of ebay for six dollars, It is similar to the ivyskin but not as good a quality. the material that it is made of is thinner than the ivyskin's, and the case is really hard to slide together, the touch screen works ok, It feels cheap and I would not want to put my iphone in it. The blue gel skin is another that I bought off of ebay. cellet jelly, six dollars. another cheap case, the silicon broke around the home button almost immediately, very thin silicon material, I used some scissors to cut it below the home button to be able to keep using it and to make it look a little better. the next one is the ivyskin clone, I saved twenty dollars by buying this one off of ebay was far better than the crystal case, thicker plastic, and feels solid, touch screen worked pretty good, but the case scratched the back of my phone when I removed the phone from the case and it also nicked the chrome bezel. I removed the screen protector from it and cut it down to use with the gel skin cases, worked pretty good, the top case is the iskin, this is the one I am keeping, It just feels right in my hand and the iphone looks pretty good in it, far superior to the other cases. I like the removable screen protector, I wish that I had bought this one first, would have saved me some money. I might buy me a red one next. just for a different look. All of the other ones are going into my desk drawer to collect dust..

I too have the this case, but I happen to love it — it is a very clean, elegant look and in my experience (been using it for just over a month) hasn't effected the functionality at all, especially after getting rid of the bubble problem (which was extremely annoying) — the following is an email excerpt from Ivyskin:

"This is caused by static and you need to discharge the static build up which will solve this issue. First remove the iPhone from the case and clean both the iPhone screen and inside of the case then hold those in one hand while touching a metal object with another hand like your car or a metal table. You can now place the iPhone back into the case. The bubble/water/oil mark should be gone once you follow these steps, repeat as needed. If you still have an issue you may try using a “fabric softener sheet” and very gently wipe the inside of the case with it to remove any static."

hope this helps.

So there's no hairline scractches at all that randomy appear on the back of the case? Is it scratch proof? I've never dropped or mistreated my Gear 4 Ice Box case but the back is filled with ugly scratches

This case looks really good, but it has one issue.... it makes the screen a LOT less sensitive. If you notice on the video within that link, he has to press harder a few times, and slide a couple times in order to get the phone to respond. I'm also willing to bet he's already doing his best to prevent that anyway. I'd pass on this one.... anti-glare screen protectors and silicon cases for the win!

And we trust real world users and also established macrumors members, who in majority say this case is crap.

I gotta agree about the low quality production of this case. It looks great, but it's not well made at all. I was one of the first to order it, and I'm assuming they rushed production when 3G was released.

The front of my case is seperating at the sides and it's constantly spliting where the two pieces come together.

I'd return it, but I'm in Japan and it's too much trouble to deal with...

I shoulda waited to order one after the initial rush.

SO...THAT SAYS THAT THE PRODUCT SUCKS AND THE COMPANY IS IMMORAL. I'd stay away from these knuckleheads if i could.

I've been reading all the feedback on the ivyskin cases as I'm buying an iphone today ... but what I haven't heard is a better answer than the ivyskin cases.
My wife has an ivyskin case and I'd say it's "OK" ... but I was going to buy one because I haven't heard of anything better ...

So ... any suggestions of cases better than the ivyskin ones?

Thanks

I bought a T3Xylo when I first got my 3G...the back side does scratch and looks pretty ratty after a few weeks, so I gave it up and moved to the ISkin Revo2. The Revo worked very well until the doc protector came apart from the case. Now I am experimenting with some of the cases I list below....

I think it fair to say that a lot of people have contributed their good and helpful experiences about cases and screen protectors to the iPhone Accessories Thread. Just since the release of the 3G we have seen a lot of changes made to vendor's cases with most of changes being positive in terms of better protection and more imaginative thinking of their design. Leading the charge are

IvySkin - Quattro
ISkin - Fuze
Seidio - Innocase
Incase - Slider
Speck - PixelSkin
Otterbox - Impact or Defender

Any of the newer cases - either hard or soft from any of these vendors will be sure to meet most of your needs, but ultimately it comes down to your personal preference. Be sure to get a good screen protector...any of them will most probably do fine.

It seems that the people who own this case fall into 2 very distinct catagories:

1) They really really like the case.
2) They really really dislike the case.

Which leads me to believe that either a bunch of us got some really crappy cases, or somehow our expectations for a case are out vastly different.

While an above post mentioned how to fix the bubble issues, that doesn't address the variance in touch sensitivity brought on by the case. Essentially the rigamarole necessary to "remove the static" makes the case far less useful as taking off the case requires you to discharge any static buildup.

I added a cheap $10 static screen protector with a Griffin "Wave" case and it works far better.

I'm sure that those of you who enjoy this case, do so for a variety of valid reasons, but in my opinion, it just wasn't as good as a cheaper less hyped case/screen protector.

The case is pretty cool as great shield.
I don't like its steel style.
But it could be the one of my wishlist next time.
