switch to POP if you used the GMAIL configuration. Worked for me and my battery is much much better now that it's not refreshign every 2 minutes.

i dont see a way to do it for 2.0 what were the steps you used?

I had originally set up my Gmail account by hitting the Gmail setup button on the iPhone. I deleted that account, and created a new one by hitting the "Other" button this time. Again, same as before, I'm not getting any emails "pushed" to the phone, it is only checking every 15 minutes. This is the same as before.

I'm still trying to replicate the problem that you had; and not having any luck with it.
