Is it free? How do I connect? Lets say I was on a road trip to LA, could I use the web from my ipod touch?

Wireless networks, so I doubt you can use it on a car journey (unless there's a way to get a network in a car that I've never heard of).

You'd need to find either an open, unencrypted wifi network and leech (steal) free bandwidth from that (not recommended) or visit a coffee-shop/diner/store etc etc that has wifi you can rent time on by the hour. (costs)
