"Is my auto-brightness sensor working?" That was a familiar refrain around these forums.

Now, with 2.0 firmware, it's visibly different/better. Try covering the sensor with your thumb while the Touch is asleep or off. Turn it on - notice how the screen is dim. Go into any app or section, uncover the sensor, then go right back to Home. After a second you'll see the screen brighten right before your eyes.

When coupled with the noticeably brighter screen under 2.0, it's clear Apple has made some real changes here. My first impression is for the better - but definitely different.

Yup - I noticed this also. The iPod seems to be constantly checking light levels as I've noticed my screen brighten and dim while using the device. I had to turn the feature off temporarily as I thought I had a hardware prob at first!

I thought I was the only one who thought this. Nice add-on.

I think I might keep 2.0...small things like this make a BIG difference...I the only time I ever saw this working before was when I woke my iPod up.
