Well, the Keynote/press conference is not to far away.

We can use this thread to discuss all the ACTUAL events that happen there rather than the current speculation thread.

Can't wait to talk to you guys about the new Zelda trailer :D

I want more Captain Rainbow. :D

Oh wait, this is the "non-speculation" thread. Um, disregard that last comment...

I hope the conference isn't riddled with boring mainstream montages this time.

Looking forward to seeing Kid Icarus plus any surprises.

And I'm really looking forward to Sony's Conference, but that's another topic.

I'm anticipating the unveiling of a new cel-shaded Legend of Zelda for the Wii that utilises the new Wiimote 'gizmo' for enhanced hacking and slashing! :D

michaelltd
Jul 15, 2008, 06:39 AM
eehhhh, I'm honestly hoping that a console Zelda doesn't go cell-shaded again. I liked the Twilight Princess style so much more. :o

IF they do go cell-shading, then I would like a "serious anime" style, like.. umm... ehh.. I guess like Death Note kinda anime style.

Doesn't surprise me much, but glad I'm not the only person here who is really, really hoping for a new Zelda game. And hoping that this article (http://www.zeldauniverse.net/zelda-news/delving-into-the-deluge-the-next-zelda/) is a bad joke (steampunked, no Link... /shudder). Oh, and the cell-shading was badass in WW.

What's the best place to read a live blog for Nintendo's presentation?

Project HAMMER is a good "hard core" possibility

Disaster Day of Crisis was supposed to be already released but was post poned for better quality

So much for no speculation :D

It starts in less than an hour! Can't wait!

Also....

I LOVED Windwaker. One of my favourite Zelda games actually.
But i'm really hoping it is more like the TP style. I really want to see what the Wii can REALLY do in terms of realism. We know no 3rd party is gonna do that, so i rely on Nintendo to show us what the Wii can truly do!

Aye aye! There's a storm brewing up here too. E3+dinner+storm= magic! So long as we don't get a power cut :D

Going off the 1:1 controller announcement yesterday I'm guessing Nintendo have a lot to get through this year. Or that MS were rumoured to have a 1:1 device and wanted to get theirs announced first. Hmm!

And I don't care where they take Zelda. I've only ever been dissapointed by 1 Zelda game so it's a good enough track record for me to trust, art style aside, they'll give us a stellar gaming experience.

Out of curiosity, which one? I think the only console Zelda (I don't usually play handhelds) that was ever a disappointment was Adventure of Link, and that's just relative to the other games.

Also, I asked above, but still hoping one of you has a suggestion about where I can read a live blogging of the Nintendo event. Anyone have a suggestion of a reliable source?

Dagless
Jul 15, 2008, 11:31 AM
Phantom Hourglass. It just didn't stick with me, lacked the charm of previous Zelda handhelds. Graphics were okay, level design and structure was poor, music was forgettable, needed Four Swords built in (like LttP GBA) and I hear it got very repetative towards the end. I made up for it though and bought myself mint conditions of both Oracle games.

After you watch a Steve Jobs keynotes these seem so.. childish.

Not starting out to so well for me, instead of bringing out Reggie and talking about games, they bring a mom out to be a poster boy to the casual crowd to show "HEY I CAN DO IT TOO"!!

Seriously... is this her first E3? I hope it is her last.

Also, really don't want to hear how "cute" or "adorable" a game is. I'm sure that speaks to a large amount of Nintendo's audience, but probably not the ones at E3 or those of us taking a long lunch to watch it online.

No. That was rubbish. She was a disgrace, whoever she was.

Early big yey's at the pats on the back and Animal Crossing. Mario and Zelda teams are working on new projects. Resort sounds ace though - day 1 purchase right there!

No F-Zero? FFS Nintendo. They've got the best futuristic racer IP and they're doing nothing with it.

Wii Music? Maybe. I don't like rhythm music games but this looks different. Nah.. I'll stick with real instruments.

Why is that a surprise? There was a Grand Theft Auto on the Gameboy Advance...

And, yeah, this was a weak press conference. But it's not as bad as the "PacMan E3."

MotionPlus is what's truly awesome. I can't wait to see what great sword fighting games that brings about. Maybe a proper Red Steel....

So long as it's not more KillMurder10 with CGI cutscenes.

What's expected from Sony? More Home talkings and a few games? They've never seemed like the type to wait for big events before releasing new products and info.

Also no new Wii firmware? Boooo.

So is that wiimote add on to make it more precise Nintendo admitting that the first wiimote failed to properly deliver? A controller set is $60 now, after this new accessory how much will it be? They should have just released new wiimotes all together, but logically they can make more from accessorizing the hell out of the Wii.

Just thought I'd add my 2 pence. Watched some and caught some on text update.

Umm... where are the games?

Although GTA on DS, hmm...interesting... Top down (GTA1) or 3D (GTA3)? Anyone know? Did I miss it?

And I have to say, Wii Music violin did look like a lot of fun.

No images or video were shown on this game.

And I have to say, Wii Music violin did look like a lot of fun.

For what seems to be the exact same affect, listen to a violin concerto and pretend you are holding a violin. Then wave your arm back and forth. Aside from being able to watch your Mii do this and having to use a separate remote to adjust the volume, I'm not sure what the difference will be considering you can't control what notes you play.

bluebomberman
Jul 15, 2008, 04:32 PM
Well, that wasn't mind-blowing. But then, everybody's keynotes were pretty lame, too.

It's bad when the thing people are going to associate the most with this E3 is the end of FF XIII's exclusivity.

I swear to god, if they killed Disaster: Day of Crisis, I will be pissed.

I have been looking to that game and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. (I wonder what happened to that....?) for a while know, and it does seem that Nintendo is just aiming to the soft core crowd.

After looking at the list of games on IGN, I only want Samba de Amigo and Animal Crossing for Wii.....

bluebomberman
Jul 15, 2008, 05:27 PM
You know, after watching some footage, I'm really starting to wonder if Nintendo should pull an Apple or a Blizzard and skip the industry-wide events (CES, E3) and do their own thing. Nintendo at this point is clearly marching at their own beat while everybody else is trying to make the next Halo or God of War.

A lot of the demos today would have played a lot better in front of a crowd that is less hardcore and more mainstream or Nintendo-fanboyish. Plus, a lot of what was shown appears to be stuff that you can't really envision enjoying until you actually try it.

Dagless

OMG that pic is epic!!!!! almost better than http://maepossojogarvideogame.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/nds-prints-money.gif

HAHA... ok im excited about the animal crossing wii, but i hope it is more community based rather than console meaning, i hope that there is more things to do with friends in the game (and not just the wiispeak addition)

also the wii music looks awesome :) , and to people saying something about no choosing what notes to play, he was pushing different buttons when he was playing the saxx, and as for the violin, the tilt of the wii mote changes the note he said you know like a real violin does... so you CAN choose the notes..

anyone else pumped about animal crossing?

PS. that lady i thought she was kaplan at first but then realized how boring she was haha

Nintendo won't be patching games, but this could just be something that you can turn on if you're on WiFi. It doesn't have to be paired with each game.

I hope Nintendo is pulling an Apple, so quietly announcing other stuff later. I'm an optimist.

What's sad, is that I'm looking forward to games like COD5 Wii. I want to use my Wiimote to shoot and be violent some more. I'm also looking forward to Clone Wars, but not the other Star Wars titles. There are also a few flash-light horror simulators I'm going to buy.

Sam & Max also has me happy, but first I need MORE STORAGE!!!

Will the Wii Chat thing work with any game, or will it only work with specific games and applications?

The accessory for the wiimote dissapoints me, it is almost like Nintendo is now admitting that their original design is flawed. But instead of just releasing a new wiimote, they decided to make yet another accessory. Again, at $60 for a controller set what will this take it to now? $80 for a controller set is pretty ridiculous, and assuming it will cost $20 is being pretty realistic I think.

JackAxe
Jul 15, 2008, 08:56 PM
I think Nintendo will release a new Wiimote, but if they hadn't offered an upgrade path fore my current Wiimotes, I would be really annoyed at the thought of needing to buy a replacement. It would be a waste.

If Nintendo is smart, they'll offer patch updates for games like Mario Kart Wii to support the new chat device, but then again, it's Nintendo.

i think wii chat wil do alright if its included w/ Animal Crossing Wii

look at the DS Headset, the only games it worked w/ were Hunters and Pokemon DP

for success w/ Wii Chat, Nintendo needs to get 3rd parties to provide support for it and get a variety of games that will utilize it

if nintendo were to offer game patches, they'd first need to solve the storage issue

i'm no expert in programming and that stuff but wouldn't it need a decent amount of space to add voice chat support?
