So this is a bit of an interesting crash...

Was in the settings on my 1st gen iPhone and switched to airplane mode and after a bit, I realized my phone had frozen at the screen.

Usually that wouldn't be a problem, but for the last few months or so I had been using the phone without the sleep/wake button since it was broken on my phone. So the sleep/wake button + home button reset method doesn't work and itunes doesn't detect it either.

I'm not sure what I can really do now besides see if the apple store has a fix for this very shiny expensive paperweight (though I bet the couple of times I dropped it might make them say its no longer warrantied). Or wait the week or so for the phone to run out of power since it is in airplane mode right now and might take forever.

What's troubling though is that the phone is completely undetected by the computer and I'd really like to not lose the last couple of phone numbers I added since I didn't get a chance to sync it in the last few days.

Any suggestions?

edit: Just to clarify, my screen is frozen (dimmed though) at the settings screen but otherwise totally unresponsive.

I would take it to an apple store. If the button is broken they shoudl be able to fix it or give you a new phone.

I'm having the same problem.. except my phone is unlocked and I dont think the apple store will be able to help me out.. any ideas?
im not so sure if my battery is draining either.. what do i do?
