Does anyone have this case? At launch I wanted to get the Griffin Nu Form case but they didn't have it in stock so I had to settle for the Wave and I feel that it is not adequetly covering my phone. I feel as though if I drop it the case will just bust open and my phone will simply fall out. I saw someone post an image of the Contour Flick case last night and instantly fell in love with it. It looks like the phone has no case at all. I just have a few questions about it before I purchase it:
1. How stable does the case feel? Would you feel safe dropping it?
2. Does it feel like the hinge that you undo to get it to fit on a dock will wear out and break off one day?
3. What material is the case made out of?
4. Does it come with abything to protect the screen? I recently purchased a power support crystal film screen so I plan to use that with the Flick.
Thank you so much in advance.

Keeping an eye on this thread..
Looking forward to some feedback as I like the look of this one.

Only available online I think. Looked for it yesterday at the Michigan Avenue Store in downtown Chicago...and they didn't have it. I wouldn't expect anyone else to have it if they don't have it.
I ordered some stuff online (3G dock, griffin travel charger) yesterday, but I decided to forego the case and see how the Bodyguardz stuff I have coming works out. If it doesn't I'll probably be picking up one of these cases.

Been calling around and no one seems to have this case in stock. Looks like I'm going to have to order it online. Has anyone else ordered it from Apple and received it yet? Also, is there any other sites to order from? On Apple's site it says that it's going to ship in 1-2 weeks, and in order to get a refund from my Wave case, I need to return it by next Friday.

As was said before, the Boston store had a bunch of them when I went, not sure about their stock now (but I know that doesn't help you much).
1. It feels stable, but it's not a complete hard case like my old Agent-18 one, I don't think I'd feel safe dropping it.
2. The hinge seems to be of a slightly different material than the rest of the case, it feel stable and doesn't feel like it'd break too easily.
3. I'm not sure what the exact material is, but it feels like rubber/silicon
4. It doesn't come with a screen protector. It's just one piece. I have a PS anti-glare screen on there and it goes great with it

I have it.
Had the sliding agent 18 on the old phone. liked it but scratched the hell out of my unit.
The flip is great. look is natural, the hinge seems strong ( hard to tell untill it breaks), protection is nimimal, but feel is almost like no case at all.
over all I like it but it was the most expensive case i saw, I always am atracted to the rich ones.
Bought it at the Main SF store

I assumed the Contour Flick was plastic? If you take a look at the pictures, it's kind of shiny; rubber/silicon wouldn't be...
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hard Plastic it is
Does it add much thickness to it? I'm tempted to get that and the PS protector.

I bought it yesterday and it's absolutely amazing. I can throw it around, slide it in my pocket, it still holds the curve shape of the iphone so it fits in your hand perfectly. It absolutely does not add any thickness to the phone. The plastic is really thin and I haven't had any issue with reception problems with it on.
The plastic is hard and shows less fingerprint then the stock plastic on the iphone. The little silicon/rubber thing in the back is discrete and you can barely see/notice it.
The only thing is if your a name-whore you won't like this case. It blocks the shiny apple label on the back.

Pictures don't do this thing justice. This case was MADE for the 3g.
PS- First picture looks like crap because it had flash that's why there's so much dust. Also I suck at taking pictures.

Just received mine from the Apple Store online. Ordered yesterday around 4 after reading some glowing praise around the forums. It looks stunning on the iphone, if it wasn't for the missing apple logo it would look naked. Hardly adds any bulk at all and keeps the sleek design. When the new incase slider comes out I might pass this off to my girlfriend if the slider is better but for the mean time this case is the best I have seen. Don't hesitate, order yours now and you might even get it the next day!

Thanks for posting pictures! I've been looking all over trying to find some real world pictures of the thing since i ordered it. It already arrived at my house but I'm out of town and iPhoneless until wednesday. I hope the two apple stores I go to will have some Black ones in stock. I'm going to stop in on the way back from the airport.

the white one isn't good at all. it's not even pure white like the iPhone itself.
I realize that I want to SHOW the phone, not cover it up. Clear case is what I want. Agent 18 clear case with PW Crystal film is the right combo for me!

I saw this case at the Apple store, took it out of the box, and thought that it felt pretty flimsy. I wasn't sure if it would really protect the phone from more than just scratches on the back. Does it feel sturdy enough once it's on the phone?

Posted this in the other Flick thread:
This thing looks like a different version of the InCase Slider which I had for my first iPhone.
I found the Flick for $24.95 at J&R online.

I have this case with the Anti Glare and I think the case one of the better ones out there. Adds little to no bulk to it and it is made of polycarbonate plastic so it is very durable. However, I just ordered the BodyGuardz today and they shipped it already because I miss the glossy black look with the Apple logo. I tried the Invisible Shield and that was a piece of junk. It didnt even cover the whole phone and was impossible to put on. I should have done more research on those but I did on the Bodyguardz so hopefully this one will work out a lot better and I get 2 of them for the same price as I paid for IS that I sent back already and will get a full refund. So, if the bodyguardz fails then i will stick with the Flick case and return that one. One good thing about the Bodyguardz is that it is not as sticky and as IS BSE from all the pics and reviews I have read about it.
Other than that, I will keep you posted on the BodyGuardz and i highly recommend the Flick case over the Contour Hard protective one for less money that has that matte finish. i heard that once you put it on silent, you have to remove the case. If you are in Dallas, all the Apple stores here have plenty of the Flick cases.

Hey Guys,
I read this thread and a few others and decided to make the jump on the white case. Sorry I don't have a digital camera to show you, but these iSight pics should do enough justice.

First off, the price point on all of these cases is ridiculous. They should all be $15 or under. That said, I would pay $35 again for this case. I have the white and I don't know what the guy earlier was saying but white is very similar to the phone's. It looks better than almost any case I've seen. Also, it's super thin. It's not a super protective case, but it's enough that it might save your phone if you drop it. One concern is the bottom edge because it has no covering for the metal rim. Still, not a big deal to me. Especially since I didn't even plan on getting a case initially.
If you want a minimalist case this is a good buy for sure. It fits snug, looks great (minus no apple logo showing) and seems durable. I imagine the white will look cleaner than black over time with prints and scratches, but dirt is another story.
Also, the clip hinge on the bottom is secure and feels good, but if you plan on docking it nightly I could see it wearing out over the course of a year or two. Still this is completely skeptical, and probably worth it anyway.
I recommend this case for sure, but I did just get it so that could change in a few months. If you're tempted I'd say do it.
Edit: PS, one thing I decided to do even though the case has small foam pads on the bottom to add padding -- is add a small piece of soft paper towel between the back of the phone and the case. It doesn't cause any issues and adds just a bit more padding. I have seen cases the scratch the phone a lot and I would like to try to avoid that with this case.

I bought the black version but returned it. I have BSE on the back of my iPhone and it makes sliding the iPhone into the case very difficult. It also makes flipping the bottom flap on and off difficult. Overall having the BSE on makes the iPhone just a tad too big to fit in the case properly.

I see how that would be the case. The case is really snug, and having anything on the back/edges would create issues with it fitting. Minus something super thin like the paper towel I mentioned in the last post.
Still, the front is fine and I imagine you can put most any protector you want on it.

Is everyone still happy with this case? If you dropped it on a flat surface but on the screen,is there enough side protection to keep the screen from striking a flat surface? How is the black case doing in terms of scratches (should I go white?)? Is the case scratching your phone?

First off let me just say that I think this is the nicest looking case there is.
But...
What's the point of it? Why would you get this case? It doesn't seem like it offers any protection. The front is completely unprotected, meaning if you drop your iPhone the chances of your screen shattering are the same as if you didn't have it on. And if you got this case to protect the back from scratches, why didn't you just get a protective film that will do the job without hiding any of the iPhone's beauty?
I'm personally thinking about getting a contour hardskin because that one seems to offer a lot more protection, especially on the front of the phone. I cracked my iPod touch's screen and I do not want the same to happen to my iPhone.
MrSugar
Jul 28, 2008, 04:53 AM
To answer a few questions:
the casing around the rim is slightly over the screen, but on a hard fall I wouldn't trust it to stop the screen from striking the ground if the screen was facing down.
Also, there is definitely a point to having the case. Although it may not be tons of outward protection, it absolutely is better than dropping the standard 3g case on a hard surface. I'm not saying the impact couldn't still break the screen, but I am saying that it would avoid cracking or severely damaging the back of the phone. The case feels great but does take on scratches pretty easily. With my white case I don't really notice it since scratches don't show up too much on white.
Also, the case doesn't seem to be scratching the phone at all. The only potential area that I could see problems with is the small metal rim around the phone. But... to be honest that's probably going to take on more scratches with or without the case.
Overall after a week or more of use I'm still happy.

Just got my black version of the case.
I have a BSE skin on my phone and the case fit fine, snug, but fine.
The only issue with it was the little flaps around the bottom corners of the phone. When I put the bottom case flap so it fit around the bottom, it moved the part BSE skin that was in the way. Cutting it away worked fine. Without the BSE skin in the way on that part of the phone the case flap closes fine.
If scratches appear on the case I don't really mind...since IT'S THE CASE and not my phone. I left the BSE skin on to protect the phone while it's within the case. In order to fit the case and use it properly (read: the case flap) you pretty much have to expose a small portion of the phone that would otherwise be protected by the skin. Since the flap covers that part of the phone when you close it, that's not a problem, though after prolonged use it could cause wear on the phone.
I don't know if it's the fact that the BSE skin is on it but the bottom part of the phone seems to have more chrome trim exposed than the top portion of the phone, which seems to be completely covered.
One thing I noticed was that you can use the case flap to stand the phone up on it's own...not handy for videos...but it's better than nothing.
Overall I love the case (keep in mind I've had mine less than 1 hour)..it offers me what I could not get with just the BSE skin on...the smooth feel of the phone, without the phone being exposed to wear. Will it protect it if I drop it...unlikely..the case is basic protection, it'll protect it against scratches, but I don't expect much protection beyond that.
I will post some pics of my case when I get around to taking some.

Here's a load of images of my phone with the BSE underneath the case.
The BSE looks like crap in some of the pictures because I modified it after I put it into the case. I may take the phone out and redo the bottom of the BSE (I had the 2 piece kit) and properly cut out the necessary pieces before putting it into the case. After removing the necessary parts of the BSE the flap on the case slides on and off much easier.
just linking images because I didn't modify their size at all...these are direct from my Nikon camera.

Standing on it's own (does it...but not incredibly stable, especially on slick surfaces like my wacom tablet)

The part of the BSE I had to cut away - normally there would be two flaps on either side, I had to cut away both on the side of the phone (right side of the picture, and one on the bottom (left side) to make the case flap fit.

http://www.thunder-god.net/images/iPhone/contour_flick/DSCN0282.JPG
I tried to get a photo of how the case fits around the phone's camera but none of the pictures turned out to be good. The fit is ok...doesn't interfere with the camera at all...but it's not an exact fit on my phone.
edit: just realized it looks like my camera has some stuck CCD sensors or something...that's what those random pixels of color are in the photos.
And it seems the case has already gotten some minor scratches after only a few hours of use...only really visible on black if you hold it up and see the reflection of the scratches in light. This does not bother me.

Ok...so I decided to remove my case to try to correct the look of the BSE on the bottom by reapplying a fresh bottom on the back. Also I am going to try taking out the rubber cover for the sleep/power switch.
After struggling to remove the case...very tricky to do with the BSE on there...I noticed something on the back of my phone...dimples.
http://www.thunder-god.net/images/iPhone/contour_flick/DSCN0290.JPG
http://www.thunder-god.net/images/iPhone/contour_flick/DSCN0291.JPG
It seems the two slight ridges on the inside back of the case have slight imperfections which caused these dimples. Fortunately I have the BSE on there so my phone should be fine. I'm wondering if the same can be said for phones without the BSE or equivalent invisible skin on them. Has anyone tried removing their case and examining the back of their phone?
I think the ridges are left as a result of the manufacturing of the case. I'm probably going to take some sandpaper to mine to smooth my case out before I put my phone back in the case...

If you're after something unobtrusive, which will protect the back of the phone and part of the bezel from scratches (except those it, itself, may eventually cause), and you like the shiny black plastic look, and you don't mind that the plastic is very typical soft polycarbonate and therefore takes on smudges and hairline finish scratches simply by virtue of being exposed to air, and you're ready to shell out $35 + tax & s/h for the privilege, then this is the case for you. I'm in a quandary. I can't make up my mind if I'm satisfied or disappointed. I can definitely rule out "thrilled"; I don't find it "beautiful", as I did the Incase Slider for the 1G iPhone, but then it doesn't add the amount of bulk that the Slider did. I did pull the phone back out of the case a couple of times right after installing it, to remove the little power switch cover and check for case-caused scratching/marring on the back of the phone. Saw some smudges caused by the little rubber strips incorporated into the inside of the case to hold things snug, but the smudges rubbed right out with little effort. The case is similar to a couple of others in its class in the area around the bezel. I fully anticipate that crap will build up in the space between and scratch the bezel. I also anticipate that the rubber hinge holding the two case parts together will wear out in less than a year, if one docks the phone, particularly if the atmosphere where one lives is dry. It's well made, I think, but there's only so much constant opening and closing that something on this scale will take. Finally, anyone who thinks the Flick will provide any type of protection against shock damage caused by a drop is kidding themselves. It's much too thin. Bottom line: I would probably return the case if S/H hadn't cost $8, with another $8 or more to return it via UPS.

As a followup to my last post...I ended up taking a dremel moto tool to the ridges with a fine sandpaper drum on it. Smoothed them out..they still aren't completely smooth...but they are significantly better than they were before. I have no fear of it scratching anything now...or damaging the BSE skin on mine.
Oh and after removing the first BSE skin to put on the second...I found that there were absolutely no marks on the phone itself despite the marks in the BSE skin...it protected it completely.
I am still perfectly happy with the case.
